My Lovely Cat, Sheng Xiaojiu: A Precious Gift That Changed My Life

My Lovely Cat, Sheng Xiaojiu: A Precious Gift That Changed My Life

On September 30, 2019, it was a day full of surprises and happiness. My boyfriend at that time, now my husband, gave me a special “90 – day” gift – a lovely silver – shaded British Shorthair cat. We named her Xiaojiu, and her full name is Sheng Xiaojiu, taking her “father’s” surname.

I still remember when I first brought Xiaojiu home, I took the first photo of her. In the photo, she had a small body and timid eyes, yet also revealed a sense of curiosity and agility. From that moment on, I started a happy life accompanied by a cat, and this photo became the beginning of our beautiful story.

Recalling the process of getting Xiaojiu, it was full of warmth and love. At that time, we were driving on the road. I accidentally mentioned that I had always wanted to have a cat, but due to various reasons, I had never been able to fulfill this wish, and there was a lot of regret in my words. Although my boyfriend, now my husband, didn’t like cat hair shedding and he often went out, worried that no one would take care of the cat, out of love for me, he still decided to walk into the pet store with me.

In the pet store, we saw a litter of silver – shaded kittens, two brothers and one sister. Xiaojiu showed herself to be different from the beginning. She took the initiative to come up to us and rubbed her little head against our hands. Her friendly and affectionate manner immediately touched us. So, we decisively applied for a card, bought a cage, cat litter, and cat food. After a series of quick operations, we took Xiaojiu home happily.

When Xiaojiu first arrived home, she was both curious and cautious in the new environment. At that time, our home was in the stage of furniture moving in, and there were many people coming and going. For Xiaojiu, who was born on June 8, 2019 and was still a little kid, everything seemed so new and strange. Her small figure shuttled around the house, sometimes hiding in the corner to observe, and sometimes bravely running out to explore.

Xiaojiu is very naughty. She is like an energetic little elf, jumping up and down at home. She jumps onto the sofa one moment and gets under the bed the next. It’s really not easy to take a photo of her. Every time the camera is pointed at her, she seems to sense it and quickly runs away, leaving me only a blurred figure. Her flexibility is amazing. Every turn and jump shows her exuberant energy.

As time goes by, Xiaojiu gradually gets used to the environment at home and also builds a deep relationship with us. She is no longer as timid as when she first came, but has become more lively and cheerful. Every day when I come home from work, she will run to the door to greet me the first time, circle around me non – stop, and make “meow meow” sounds, as if telling me her missing for me. She will jump onto the sofa and lie quietly on my lap to enjoy the warm time with me when I watch TV; she will quietly jump onto the desk and watch me quietly when I work, and occasionally pat my hand with her little paw to remind me to take a break.

The arrival of Xiaojiu not only adds a lot of fun to my life but also makes me feel a special responsibility. She is like a bright star, illuminating my life and making every ordinary day shine. I am very grateful to my husband for giving me this precious gift, and I also cherish every moment with Xiaojiu. In the days to come, I hope to always accompany Xiaojiu, witness her growth, and create more beautiful memories together. I believe that Xiaojiu will continue to bring endless joy and warmth to our lives, and we will always protect her and let her live happily in this loving home.
