Li Xiaobao’s life as a cat has been full of twists and turns. When its previous owner picked it up on the roadside, one of its eyes had already been injured by other cats. Half a year ago, the previous owner suffered from depression. So, without much knowledge about the silver shaded – tipped cat breed, I adopted it.
When Li Xiaobao first came to my home, it hid under the sofa for just two minutes and then carefully came out to explore the new home. It wasn’t shy but was extremely cautious. At first, it showed no interest in the laser pointer. Only after getting familiar with the environment did it start making strange sounds when facing the light of the laser pointer. During the National Day and Chinese New Year, when I took it back to my hometown, it immediately showed its coquettish side, constantly asking for strokes and hugs. It quickly won over the elders in the family. The elders bought various toys for it and were willing to clean its litter box. Whenever it heard the sound of the delivery person knocking on the door, it would suddenly jump from me to the door and guard there. Its eager look was as if it would bark “woof woof” if it could.
However, Li Xiaobao’s eye condition is really distressing. I tried four or five kinds of eye drops to treat its eyes, but its tears just couldn’t stop flowing. During the period of using the medicine, it shed white tears, and a week after stopping the medicine, the tears would turn red. Despite the discomfort in its eyes, Li Xiaobao is very obedient in other aspects. When giving it a bath and blowing its fur, I can even do it with my bare hands. Only when the time is too long will it impatiently meow twice. When cutting its nails, it is incredibly obedient, staying still and cooperating.
Li Xiaobao can also be naughty at times. It is curious about all the flowers and plants at home and can’t help but bite them. Once, after a surgery, it was too uncomfortable to even get into its cat bed, which was really pitiful. It often pretends to bite. Whenever it sees the laser pointer, it will make that strange sound, and it is extremely clingy, always following me closely and not willing to leave me for a moment.
Looking back on the days spent with Li Xiaobao, although it occasionally causes some minor troubles, such as shedding a lot of fur which makes cleaning more frequent, the joy it brings far outweighs these little annoyances. Every day when I come home from work and see its expectant eyes and hear its gentle meows, the tiredness of the whole day will disappear instantly. I know that at home, there is a lovely cat waiting for me to come back. This feeling of being needed makes my life full and warm. The arrival of Li Xiaobao has added a lot of color to my life. It is not just a pet but also my family member, an indispensable part of my life. I will always accompany it, take care of it, and let it live a healthy and happy life in the future, making up for the hardships it has experienced. I believe that with our mutual company, there will be more beautiful stories waiting for us to write in the future.
