My dear cat was brought back from an acquaintance for 1700 yuan. It was only two months old at that time and experienced a special journey by taking an inter – city bus all the way to my home. It stayed in a small box for a whole morning, but when it came out, it was still full of life, jumping around vigorously. Its lively appearance melted my heart instantly.
However, no one expected that an accident was quietly approaching. When I went to pick it up, I also brought an American Shorthair cat that might carry the feline panleukopenia pathogen, and put the two of them in the same cat carrier. In just 20 minutes, my little cat came into contact with the feces of the American Shorthair. From that moment on, it embarked on this bumpy road of survival.
When I first took it for a physical examination after picking it up, it was still happily jumping around, looking very healthy. But when I learned that the American Shorthair might carry feline panleukopenia, I immediately observed it closely and thoroughly disinfected the house before it entered the door. The American Shorthair only stayed at home for one night. For the first three days, it seemed to be okay, and everything was normal. But on the fourth day, something terrible happened. Its eyes began to discharge pus and it couldn’t open them at all. It even became blind and couldn’t see the way to walk. This really frightened me, and I quickly took it to the hospital for an examination.

The examination result was like a bolt from the blue. It had contracted multiple serious diseases at the same time, such as feline herpesvirus type 1, feline panleukopenia, and feline coronavirus. The doctor told me helplessly that it was highly unlikely to be saved, and even if we tried our best to treat it, it might just be a waste of time and money. This plunged me into extreme pain and despair. Because before this, my lover had given me a blue cat. It was the first pet I ever had in my life, and I took great care of it, naming it Jiding. However, fate was so cruel. Jiding only survived for a week and then left us due to digestive system problems. Now, looking at this little cat in front of me, also suffering from illness, I was really afraid of losing it again.
However, how could I give up easily? There must be a strong desire to survive in its small body. So, I decided to do my best to treat it at any cost. In the following days, I took it back and forth between the hospital and home every day, fed it medicine on time, and carefully took care of its daily life. It became very weak due to the illness and even had difficulty eating, but I still patiently encouraged it and fed it little by little. During this process, I experienced countless worries and anxieties. Every recurrence of its illness stabbed my heart like a knife.
However, a miracle finally happened. After a long and arduous treatment, its condition gradually improved. Its eyes no longer discharged pus and slowly opened. It also began to have an appetite, and its body regained strength day by day. Seeing it getting better little by little, the joy in my heart was beyond words.
Now, my dear cat has grown up healthily and weighs 14 pounds. It has become lively and mischievous, jumping up and down at home, bringing me endless joy. Looking back on the hardships it once suffered, I really feel deeply. It overcame the disease with its tenacious vitality and also made me understand the tenacity and preciousness of life. It is no longer just a cat but a strong partner in my life, accompanying me through every beautiful day. I will always protect it and let it grow up healthily and happily in the future.
