The Daily Life with My Silver Shaded Cat, the "Little Ancestor"

The Daily Life with My Silver Shaded Cat, the “Little Ancestor”

On a sunny and cloudless morning, I happily brought home a silver shaded cat from the cattery. At that time, it was about two months old, a small ball, but seemingly full of boundless energy. Since then, it has started its days of “dominating” in my home.

When it first arrived home, it showed its extremely naughty side. Described in one word, it was “naughty”. It was curious about everything in this new home, jumping up and down, exploring everywhere, as if there was no place it couldn’t reach. It really almost went to the roof to remove the tiles. It would dash around the room, knocking over the small items on the table; it would get into all kinds of narrow corners, making me spend a lot of effort to find it.

However, this naughty little guy also has an extremely clingy side. Every day when I come home from work, it always runs to the door the first time, circling around me non – stop, meowing loudly, impatiently wanting me to touch it. When I go to the toilet, it also has to follow closely, squatting aside, staring at me without blinking, as if I am performing some mysterious ceremony. At night when sleeping, it is even more unceremonious. It has to sleep face to face with me. Sometimes it will directly climb onto my chest. Its small body has quite some weight, making it a bit difficult for me to breathe. But looking at its cute appearance, I really can’t bear to push it away.

Surprisingly, it can occasionally seem to understand what people say. When I seriously say “No” to it, it will be stunned for a moment, and then look at me innocently with its big round eyes. Although most of the time, it forgets my words soon and continues to be naughty.

Taking care of its daily life is really a difficult task. Every time I cut its nails, it yells like a pig being slaughtered, and the sound resounds throughout the room. Its posture is as if I am torturing it. Things like wiping its bottom, cleaning its ears, and brushing its teeth make it extremely resistant. Each time I do these things, it is accompanied by its loud cries. Also, as long as I don’t let it get on the table, it will also protest at the top of its voice. I often feel that instead of raising a cat, I seem to be raising an “ancestor”. Facing its various behaviors, I am really angry and funny, full of helplessness.

However, this “little ancestor” can also be well – behaved and cute, and that is when it is eating. Whenever I take out its cat food or snacks, it immediately becomes quiet and docile, sitting obediently aside, with its eyes tightly fixed on the food. Its focused appearance makes people laugh. As soon as the food is put into its bowl, it starts gobbling it up. Soon, the bowl is empty. Seeing it eat so deliciously, I also feel extremely satisfied.

In the days of getting along with this silver shaded cat, although there are various small troubles and episodes, there is more joy and warmth it brings to me. Its naughtiness makes my life full of surprises and challenges, and its clinginess makes me feel the happiness of being relied on. In this small home, it has already become an indispensable part of my life. I know that there will be more interesting stories waiting for me and my “little ancestor” to write together in the future.
