My Silver Shaded British Shorthair: A Sweet and Charming Cat

My Silver Shaded British Shorthair: A Sweet and Charming Cat

It has been nearly two months since I embarked on the journey of being a cat owner, and if I had to sum it up in one sentence, it would be that my Silver Shaded British Shorthair truly has an incredibly wonderful personality. But what exactly does it mean for a cat to have a great personality? Well, it means being clingy, never scratching people, allowing itself to be petted freely, and easily purring with contentment, among other things. I could go on and on about these endearing traits, but I’ll spare you the details for now.

First, let me share a video that perfectly captures her charm!

At 00:12 of the video, you can see her in all her cuteness. When she first came to my home, she was already almost five months old and had received all her vaccinations, including the triple vaccine and the rabies vaccine. I can’t help but wonder if her past experience as a stray has something to do with her strong “survival instinct.” Although she was initially afraid of strangers, once she got a bit familiar with their scent, she allowed anyone to pet her! My mom even joked that maybe she got lost while being petted by someone during her days as a stray.

She has this funny habit of claiming my study desk as her territory. But come on, my desk is really small, and it was especially crowded during the final exam period when I was busy grading papers. Still, she insisted on making herself comfortable there.

She also loves playing with her own tail, finding endless amusement in chasing and pouncing on it. And then there’s the doll that I caught only once in my life. She seems to have a special fondness for it and spends a lot of time playing with it.

There are moments when she looks just like an old man feeling sleepy. She’ll suddenly sit up straight, lost in thought, as if contemplating the mysteries of the world.

When the winter vacation started at school, I took her home to live with my parents. It didn’t take long for her to win over my parents’ hearts with her cuteness. She even protected me, a single person, from my parents’ “attention attacks” about my relationship status. I’m truly grateful for that!

She loves to sleep on my dad’s lap, making herself at home and showing her affection. And when it comes to my mom, she knows exactly how to act cute and even steps on my mom in her own playful way. Sometimes, she’ll find a cozy spot on the sofa and doze off with her head resting comfortably.

My mom once brought out the two turtles at home to play with her, but the situation quickly got out of control. Yes, the poor turtles were so scared by her that they ran around everywhere. It was quite a sight to behold.

And let’s not forget her charming sleeping postures! They are simply adorable. Looking at her, I can’t help but think that her cat life seems to be quite happy. I sometimes even envy her and wish that in my next life, I could be a beautiful cat, spending my days eating, sleeping, playing, and repeating the cycle over and over again.

In these two months, she has become an indispensable part of my life. Her presence has filled my days with joy and laughter. Whether it’s her playful antics or her affectionate gestures, she never fails to make me smile. I look forward to many more months and years of sharing my life with this lovely feline friend, creating countless more precious memories together. I will do my best to take good care of her and ensure that she continues to live a happy and healthy life.
