Let me tell you this, if you raise other dogs, you will just think it is just a dog, but if you raise a Border Collie for a long time, you will feel like there is a child in the house.
My dog Yuanyuan likes to interact with us and throw toys, such as frisbees, screaming chickens, knots, mineral water bottles, etc. When we throw them out, the dog will fly into the air or chase them at full speed and then pick them up at our feet. One day, I was busy working at the computer desk. It was bored and took the knot and put it under the chair. It put its ears behind its head and looked at you with expectant eyes and sat down obediently. Seeing that you ignored it, it picked up the knot again and threw it gently into the air. It looked at the knot and then looked at me, motioning me to pick it up and play with it. I said I was busy now and went to find my dad to play with you for a while. It didn’t agree and continued the third round of attack: it picked up the knot and put it on my thigh, and its chin was also on my leg. The whole expression was full of “I’m so good, you really don’t want to play with me for a while?” Helplessly, being a dog to this extent, I really couldn’t bear to refuse, and played several rounds with it.

I slept with its father’s slippers as a pillow and guarded by his side.
Occasionally, I would be hard-hearted and ignore its request, so that I knew that the decision to play or not was up to me, because I was the boss. Seeing that I was indifferent, it stupidly bit the toy and went to find its father, repeating the three steps of attack. Maybe it felt that no one could really refuse it.
Like my parents, he doesn’t like taking pictures
. Once he was so excited when he brought it back that he threw the knot under the table. I was too lazy to bend down to pick it up, so I said “I can’t pick it up”, and then stretched out my hand to pretend that I couldn’t pick it up. Although it was unintentional, I stood still to see how he would react. He also stood still at first, then tilted his head to look at me, wagged his tail, and after about ten seconds, he walked under the table and bit the knot in front of me again. We raise dogs as long as they are healthy and happy. As for skills, they are quite Buddhist. It can be said that they are ignorant and have never specially trained this kind of command, but they can understand my thoughts. I thought it was incredible at the time!
Let’s talk about the feeling I get from other aspects. Border Collies may not be as obedient as Golden Retrievers or Teddy (maybe it’s because of my training method). It’s not because they are stupid. On the contrary, they will consider the pros and cons before deciding whether to obey. It’s like the one who listens to the teacher obediently in kindergarten is not necessarily the smartest, and the most naughty one is not necessarily stupid, so obedience cannot be equated with IQ. For example, if it doesn’t want to be held and petted by us, then when we call it over casually, it will keep a certain distance and observe you with its little head tilted. If it has food in its hand, it will walk towards us in small steps… It can understand many words and distinguish the names of toys, such as popsicles, balls, frisbees, and bottles. If one of them is missing, for example, when we ask it where the popsicle is, it will stretch its head as far as possible into the gap beside the bed, poke its nose and scratch it with its paws, telling us that it is under the bed and ask us to get it out. If it doesn’t know, it will pretend to look around, and finally look at you stupidly, as if to say “I’m counting on you to help me find it”. If you shout “It’s time to eat” in the kitchen, it will rush out faster than anyone else. When you say “go out and play”, it will immediately prick up its ears, look at us intently and expectantly, run to the door while turning in circles and waiting for you to change your shoes. If you are a little slow, it will make a whimpering sound and can’t wait to urge us to hurry up.
Border Collie has a strong ability to understand, which is the most important reason why it ranks first in canine IQ, but it also requires tacit understanding accumulated over time. As for obedience, there is no absolute. Anyway, the one in our family is very realistic and a sophisticated egoist, so we don’t dare to ask for too much.
