The Heartbreaking Incident of Diandian’s Fall and Its Struggle for Recovery

At 12:41 p.m. on January 21, 2020 (the 27th day of the 12th lunar month), Diandian fell from the rooftop of the fourth floor of my house.

I had never left it alone on the fourth floor to sunbathe because I was afraid that one day it would jump off the building. But on this day, my brother left it there alone. In just a short while, Diandian fell. At 12:43 p.m., my younger brother was assigned to go to the garage to get a cart and found Diandian wailing at the rear door. When we rushed there, it was screaming with blood all over its mouth. I wanted to hold it, but seeing its appearance, it was highly likely that it had a fracture. While soothing its emotions, I cried and asked my younger brother to get the travel carrier. Diandian trusted me very much. Knowing that I was going to save it, it slowly walked into the carrier on its own under my comfort. We immediately drove it to the hospital. During the journey that lasted over an hour, I cried until I lost my voice. I received dozens of comforting phone calls, all saying, “Cats have nine lives. It will definitely be okay.” But looking at its weak appearance, I was extremely afraid that it would close its eyes and leave me.

We were all worried about its internal bleeding. After drawing blood for a complete biochemical examination, we gave it a sedative for pain relief. Diandian, who had become extremely sensitive due to the pain, struggled and bit the doctor frantically in the hospital. I didn’t know what to do beside it and carefully called its name. Surprisingly, it really calmed down and whimpered softly.

After taking the X – rays, it was found that its right front limb was fractured, its right hind leg had a bit of bone dislocation, and almost all of its canine teeth had fallen out.

There was a bit of liver damage in terms of the internal organs. It needed to receive an intravenous drip for liver protection. It is said that most cats that fall from buildings will have liver bleeding. After giving the liver protection treatment, a complete biochemical examination should be done again to see if the indicators return to normal.

After the examination, Diandian was sent to the cage for an intravenous drip, waiting for the operation the next day.

Diandian was bound to spend the Spring Festival in the hospital. I decided to accompany it in the hospital, and my boyfriend also said that he would come to take care of us. Although both sets of parents were very dissatisfied, I still helped my boyfriend grab the earliest bullet train the next day, and he could still catch Diandian’s operation in the afternoon.

Diandian’s left hand became swollen because of the intravenous drip. I stayed with it, talked to it, and thanked it for its strength. This guy didn’t dare to poop because of the pain, even though it clearly had a full stomach.
