Cat Care: Diandian's Health and the Problem of Ringworm

Cat Care: Diandian’s Health and the Problem of Ringworm

Internal and external deworming should be done every month, and for the sake of cleanliness, the cat should be bathed every month. The doctor recommends bathing every 40 days in winter because of the fear of catching a cold, and every 30 days in summer. I don’t know if the price of bathing and deworming is calculated by weight… Anyway, every time the cat is weighed and then the price is calculated. The price is different every time and it’s getting more and more expensive.

Diandian has been getting fatter (´ཀ`」 ∠) However, later it was always 80 yuan for a bath, and if it had ringworm and needed a medicated bath, an additional 30 yuan would be charged. You can bathe the cat by yourself (I’ve never done it myself), using special pet bath shampoo (I bought it but have never used it). Cats are very fussy when taking a bath. Be careful not to be scratched. Make sure to dry the cat thoroughly. Cat fur is very thick and difficult to dry. Use a small – wind and cool – wind setting and dry it slowly for a very, very long time.

Perhaps the dormitory was still not clean enough. Coupled with the fact that kittens have relatively weak immunity, Diandian still got ringworm on its tail. After putting an Elizabethan collar on it, we applied medicine. Before the ringworm on Diandian’s tail was completely healed, it got ringworm on its chin. The fur around the area fell out and it looked ugly. My roommate and I didn’t pay enough attention, so we were both infected. We kept applying medicine, but it healed very slowly. When humans get ringworm, it’s very itchy, with red patches and dandruff. My boyfriend took me to a dermatology hospital for an examination, and it showed a fungal infection. The doctor prescribed Compound Salicylic Acid and Flumetasone Ointment and Naftifine and Ketoconazole Cream (Biliang) for me.

After using two tubes of the medicine, it got a little better, but the effect was not good. Later, I bought Terbinafine Hydrochloride Tablets and Terbinafine Hydrochloride Cream myself. I can attest that continuous use is effective. (Key point: When a cat has ringworm, be sure to follow the doctor’s advice. Keep spraying and applying medicine to it. Don’t let it lick the ringworm area to prevent spread and infection. If you have multiple cats, pay attention to isolation. Ringworm can be transmitted to the owner. During the period when the cat has ringworm, the owner should wash hands carefully after touching the pet. Getting more sunlight is beneficial for the recovery of ringworm.)

On December 31, 2016, it was our first New Year’s Eve with Diandian. The thin little cat was so timid outside~
