The Adorable and Timid Life of My Cat, Nougat

I once fantasized that I would have a black cat named Caramel, a tortoiseshell – colored cat named Macchiato, and an orange cat named Nougat. Later, I got a British Shorthair Blue and White. She’s not called Sesame Paste or Peanut Butter, but Nougat, because this name was chosen by her.

Nougat’s “middle – part” isn’t 90 degrees, but 120 degrees. What I like to do most is to straighten the white tip between her eyes. Nougat is extremely timid. When she first came to our home, I played “I Want You” by Ren Suxi on loop to win her trust.

At that time, she was only as big as a palm and would hide in some corner where I couldn’t find her. One night when I didn’t close the bedroom door while sleeping, she actually jumped onto the bed and curled up behind my neck to sleep. At first, I refused to let her on the bed, but she was so small and so cute. Well… as long as you’re happy. That night, I didn’t dare to move at all, afraid of crushing her.

Later, I wanted to hold her wherever I went. In winter, it was perfect to tuck her into my coat. She also really liked to hide in my clothes. Later, when I took her to take a bath and she was frightened, she would keep burrowing into my neck, licking my neck while burrowing.

Nougat should actually be renamed Coward. Her courage is smaller than that of an average cat. When I take her to meet cat friends or rabbit friends, her whole body becomes stiff. Later, in order to make her a bit braver, I put her in a shopping bag and took her out for walks. We have watched the river together, gone on spring outings together, and ridden a bicycle to various corners of the city together. Later, she really became braver. From being restless when hearing the sound of cars at first to calmly enjoying the scenery, sometimes she would try hard to stick her head out of the shopping bag to see what was going on outside.

I also bought her clothes, bells, and toys, but she didn’t like any of them.

What Nougat likes most is licking her toes… I really don’t know how she developed this special habit.

When she was little, she was naughty. Whenever you were reading or writing, she could always mess things up.

When she grew up, she liked to find a high place to hide and sleep quietly for an afternoon. I often couldn’t find her in the house and would shout loudly, “Nougat, Nougat.” When she heard me calling, she would suddenly appear in front of you after a while. After being called like this several times, I finally found out where she hid.
