My Cherished Siamese Cat, Xiaobaozong

My Cherished Siamese Cat, Xiaobaozong

Siamese cats are renowned for their extreme clinginess. At night, they insist on being cuddled while sleeping. However, they are quite particular about whether to stay inside or outside the quilt, and this decision depends on the seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. When they are kittens, their eyes are a vivid shade of sapphire blue, but as they grow up, the color gradually transforms into a beautiful lake blue.

One of the most interesting characteristics of Siamese cats is their ever – changing coat color. When the weather gets cold, their fur darkens. Additionally, if they consume too much oily food or are in a bad mood, they also tend to get darker. In terms of diet, these cats don’t eat a large quantity, but they are very picky about the quality of their food. My little furball, Xiaobaozong, would rather starve for three days than touch the food she dislikes.

Xiaobaozong is extremely lively and energetic. She dashes around the house like the Flash, causing chaos everywhere. But she is also incredibly intelligent. The moment she senses that I’m angry, she immediately comes over to rub against me, trying to win me over with her cute antics. Once I’ve calmed down, she resumes her mischievous behavior, as if she can perfectly read my emotions. It’s really hard to stay mad at her because I love her so much.

At first, my parents were against the idea of having a cat. However, they couldn’t resist my persistent begging, and that’s how Xiaobaozong entered our lives. My mom said that when she first saw a Siamese cat, she was immediately struck by its beauty. As for me, my “maternal love” for Xiaobaozong grew rapidly. When I first brought her home, she was only as big as the palm of my hand, with a small, jet – black face and what seemed like natural “black stockings” on her legs. My dad, upon seeing her for the first time, commented that she didn’t look as good – looking as a wild cat and worried whether such a tiny kitten could survive.

Determined to take good care of her, I bought the best goat milk powder from Taobao and dedicated myself to her well – being. I was constantly worried about her safety, fearing that she might fall, go hungry, or drink dirty water. For two whole months, I hardly left the house, devoting all my time to looking after her. Since I was studying in South Korea, after the start of the school term, I couldn’t stop thinking about Xiaobaozong. I would wake up in a panic if I had a dream that she was sick, and I would even cry because I missed her so much. Sometimes, I really wonder who is the master in this relationship, her or me?

Thankfully, Xiaobaozong has gradually grown up. Her eyes are now large and round, and her fur shines brightly. The sister who gave me the cat was impressed when she saw how well – cared – for Xiaobaozong was. So, what drives me to take such good care of her? Is it love? Or a sense of responsibility? No, it’s simply because I’m a crazy cat person. I’m willing to do anything for this little furry friend, and every moment spent with her is a precious memory that I cherish deeply. I look forward to many more years of sharing my life with Xiaobaozong, watching her grow and creating countless more beautiful stories together.
