LiuLian: The Energetic and Adorable Siamese Cat

LiuLian: The Energetic and Adorable Siamese Cat

In February, the long – dormant desire to have a cat reignited within me. I turned to Zhihu, scrolling through pages of praise for Siamese cats, extolling their intelligence and affectionate nature. Intrigued, I decided to welcome one into my life, little knowing that I was about to embark on an adventure with this “Husky of the cat world.”

In March, LiuLian arrived. At nearly four months old, he seemed like a little angel at first sight. I was immediately smitten. Little did I anticipate the whirlwind of energy and mischief that was to come.

At night, he would stealthily slip under the covers, snuggling up to my arm and sleeping soundly throughout the night. We seemed to be in perfect sync, waking up together as the morning light filtered through the curtains. I initially thought LiuLian was a gentle and refined feline. Oh, how wrong I was!

LiuLian is, without a doubt, a glutton. True to his name, the moment he catches sight of durian, he goes wild, chasing after it with unbridled enthusiasm. But his love for food doesn’t stop there. Watermelon, grapes, mangoes – he has an insatiable appetite for any and all fruits. He even attempts to snatch food right out of my mouth! When it comes to yogurt, he’s equally persistent. For a cup of Lechun yogurt, he would stretch his neck in the most comical way, a display of what could only be described as the long – lost “swan neck” in the feline world.

In terms of appearance, LiuLian is a bit of a mixed bag. He has a 330 – degree “ugly angle,” with only a 30 – degree window of opportunity for a truly adorable photo. Sometimes, with the right lighting and angle, he looks like the cutest thing on earth. Other times, a simple misstep in photography turns him into a hilarious goofball. But for LiuLian, image means nothing. He struts around the house like a little emperor, the self – proclaimed “Third Prince” of our home, unfazed by any attempts to capture his “true” image.

LiuLian’s curiosity knows no bounds. The toilet? He has to inspect it thoroughly. The skincare storage box? He promptly knocks my lipstick out of it. The umbrella? He sees it as a cozy hiding spot. The bookshelf? It’s his personal climbing gym. One of his most “notorious” acts was when he brutally dismembered a cute little toy mouse, looking incredibly proud of his “accomplishment.”

Whenever I enter the kitchen, LiuLian wastes no time in leaping onto the dining table, as if he expects me to serve him a gourmet meal. He truly believes I’m his personal chef. When he wants to play, he’ll launch a surprise attack, pouncing on me. If I scold him for being too rough, he’ll actually engage in a mini – “fight” with me, taking full advantage of the fact that I won’t bite him back. He’s like a little puppy in many ways, running around the house with objects in his mouth and licking me with his tiny tongue.

The only time LiuLian seems truly angelic is when he’s fast asleep. His peaceful slumber is a stark contrast to his rambunctious waking hours. But woe betide anyone who dares to wake him up. The moment he opens his eyes, he gives me a look of “royal disdain,” as if to say, “How dare you disturb my rest?”

Now, a word of caution for those considering a Siamese cat. Their digestive systems can be a bit delicate, and LiuLian is no exception. He often has soft stools, which has led to some rather… messy situations. More than once, I’ve found him with his paws covered in feces. There have been mornings when I’ve woken up to mysterious brown smears on the floor, only to realize that LiuLian has had another “accident.” As a result, the once – cozy bedtime routine of inviting him onto the bed has been put on hold.

Despite all his quirks and the occasional chaos he creates, LiuLian has a special place in my heart. He is a constant source of laughter, surprises, and unconditional love. Even with his less – than – perfect moments, I wouldn’t trade him for the world. LiuLian, you are my little bundle of joy, and I love you more than words can say.
