My Story of Raising Three Kittens with Different Personalities

My Story of Raising Three Kittens with Different Personalities

Maybe because the three cats I raised were all kittens, I felt that each had a different personality!

When I bought them, one was four months old, one was three months old, and one was two months old. Why did I raise three cats? Well, it’s a long story.

At first, I raised Lucky. He was extremely naughty, always getting into trouble. He was also a picky eater. I changed his cat food five times. He only ate chicken, chicken legs every day. He never ate anything that fell on the ground or the leftovers. He had an extremely strong sense of curiosity.

Lucky is a little male cat. He follows you wherever you go every day. If you don’t go to bed too late, he will get angry and climb from your legs to your body to make you sleep with him. Later, I was afraid that he would be lonely when I was not at home, so I wanted to buy him a “wife” to keep him company.

The other one was originally named Azhao. He was four months old and was said to have been vaccinated and dewormed. Later, I found that he was always sick, so I changed his name to Simba. On the first night I brought him back, he had ringworm and ear mites. I asked the pet store, but they insisted that it was just mites and said they could exchange him for another one if I wanted. With the spirit that meeting was fate, I said forget it. Then began the long treatment process. These were nothing. When I applied medicine to him, he would feel pain and look at me timidly and fearfully.

Several times, when I saw his fearful eyes towards me, I almost gave up. I thought to myself, what was I doing this for? He wasn’t close to me either. But I was afraid that if I sent him back, the next owner would also dislike him (because a colleague of mine threw away her cat just because it got ringworm). So I continued to raise him. Although he wasn’t close to me, he was close to Lucky. They were together every day. Lucky was extremely naughty. Sometimes when Lucky bit him hard, he wouldn’t bite back. He would just quietly run to the front. I always said to Lucky…

As the Chinese New Year was approaching, I took them to my mom’s house. My mom actually told me that Simba was male. Because I had clearly told the pet store that I wanted a female cat. He also had skin problems and wasn’t close to me. I had already thought that it was okay as long as he was close to Lucky. Now I was told that he was male.

I contacted the pet store and they said they could exchange him. He vomited, had diarrhea, didn’t eat, and had a fever. I observed him for a day and fed him Mommy’s Love and Kuihua Pediatric Cold Medicine, but it didn’t work. So I decisively took him to the hospital. When drawing blood for the test, he meowed loudly in pain. Because there wasn’t enough blood, the nurse sister pressed his paw pads hard. I was constantly comforting him. There were a lot of tests like B – ultrasound and blood drawing, and it cost me more than 800 yuan. The doctor said it was suspected to be feline panleukopenia. I said then let’s do an IV drip. But infuriatingly, he actually told me that if I wanted an IV drip, I had to do further tests to confirm it and then isolate him for the IV drip. I was almost furious. The whole morning, my cat was almost tortured to death, and they actually told me to continue. So I decisively chose to buy medicine and go home to give him injections. Nine injections a day.

The interferon was extremely painful. After the injection, his neck couldn’t move. He was crying in pain. When I told my boyfriend about it after the injection, the more I talked, the sadder I became. I was so worried that I cried. When he saw me crying, he reluctantly stood up and licked me to comfort me. Then I cried even harder. He had never been close to me. I had just given him the injection, and it was so painful. But this little guy was still comforting me. After he got home, he had always been introverted and timid. He was very sensible and never bullied Lucky just because he was bigger than Lucky. Instead, he was often bullied. He shouldn’t have endured all these. After about three or four days, fortunately, he started to eat. Because during these days when he was sick, I was with him in my bedroom and kept Lucky in the living room for fear of infection. After these few days, miraculously, he started to get clingy to me. After he recovered and went to the living room, if I closed the door in the bedroom, he would meow loudly to ask me to open the door for him. He never played with anyone except me. No matter how my brother tried to please him, he ignored him. So my brother called him a “silly dog”.

So here comes the problem. Although Simba recovered, now I have two male cats. Just thinking about them being in heat when they grow up, meowing and peeing everywhere makes my head spin. And I promised Lucky to get him a “wife”. In this situation, am I going to tell Lucky, “Your ‘wife’ has become your ‘brother’. Let’s become sworn brothers!” And then take you and your brother to the hospital to make you both eunuchs? On one hand, I really couldn’t bear it. Although I also heard that neutering is good for cats. On the other hand, I was afraid. I heard that some cats might die from infection.

After careful consideration, I decided to buy another cat!!!
