In this world full of furry little cuties, every cat lover has their own unique story of meeting and getting to know their feline friends. And I, finally, have the honor to be one of those who can share such a story, with an indescribable sense of pride welling up in my heart.
Speaking of why I was particularly attracted to Siamese cats among so many cat breeds, I have to “thank” Zhihu. In that ocean of knowledge, I was immersed in countless wonderful answers about cats. The Siamese cat, like a bright star, left a deep impression on me. Since the second half of my freshman year in college, I have been looking forward to it and almost devoted all my spare time to planning to buy a Siamese cat from a cattery. Before actually taking action, I studied various matters that novice cat owners should pay attention to as carefully as a rigorous scholar, full of anticipation for the day when I would meet my little treasure.
Finally, as the semester was coming to an end, the gears of fate began to turn, and I met my Yuanbao. At that time, I knew about two catteries. One of them offered free kittens for adoption. Out of curiosity, I asked several classmates to go with me, thinking that maybe I could find my destiny there. However, the reality was a bit disappointing. Some of those kittens had cat ringworm, and some had serious tear stains. Since they were the ones left after being selected by other customers, their appearances were not very good either. Although I was a little regretful, I resolutely gave up the idea of adoption, because I hoped to give my future cat a healthy and wonderful start in life.
At the other cattery, I saw Yuanbao for the first time. At first, the store clerk brought out her sister. That little guy was really naughty, jumping around and being extremely active. It accidentally scratched two marks on my hand with its claws (fortunately, it didn’t have much strength and didn’t cause serious harm). Then, Yuanbao was brought out. At that moment, I seemed to see an angel. This little girl was extremely gentle. She neither scratched people nor moved around randomly. She just looked at me quietly and curiously, hitting my heart instantly. Without hesitation, I decided that she was the cat I had been looking for and immediately decided to take her home.
On the way back to school, I sent a message to my parents with a nervous and excited heart, saying that I had bought a cat and paid the deposit. I never expected that their reaction would be so strong. My mother sent a series of messages full of anxiety and worry, and my father’s words were also full of firm opposition. They sent many voice messages, and the core meaning was only one: no cat – raising. If I raised a cat, I would be in “big trouble”, and I was asked to get the deposit back, even if only part of it. Looking back now, I find the scene both funny and heart – warming. I really don’t know what pictures were going through their minds at that time.
However, my love for Yuanbao made me determined to bring her home regardless of everything. On July 1, this special day, my roommate and I carefully brought Yuanbao back to the dormitory. We temporarily built a small nest for her. Every time a roommate went to visit her, she was extremely happy, leaning her small body tightly against the cage and acting coquettishly non – stop. Later, we really couldn’t bear to keep her in the cage all the time, so we occasionally let her out to play.
Yuanbao especially loves to play with plastic bags. Whenever she sees a plastic bag, she pounces on it happily as if she has discovered a treasure, scratching and clawing at it with her little paws, having a great time. She is also very fond of my pens. She always uses her small claws to play with my pens, as if they are the most interesting toys in the world. Looking at her lively and cute appearance, all the fatigue of the day will disappear instantly.
The arrival of Yuanbao has added countless joys and warmth to my life. She is not only my pet but also my close friend in life, accompanying me through those ordinary and beautiful days. This experience of meeting and getting to know Yuanbao has made me understand that sometimes, by persisting in my inner love, I can reap unexpected happiness. I believe that in the future, Yuanbao and I will create more beautiful memories together and continue our wonderful cat – related story.
