My Quirky Feline Companion

My Quirky Feline Companion

During my days of studying in a foreign land, my thoughts often involuntarily drift towards my distant home. At this moment, I think of the “fatty” at home who loves to quarrel with me. An indulgent smile with a hint of mystery appears in my mind.

Yes, you heard it right. I quarrel with my cat. Looking back now, those things that triggered our quarrels are neither too big nor too small, but they are really troublesome. Take the case when I ignore it. As long as I show a little neglect, it will immediately start its “noisy mode”. Its sharp meows seem to be venting its dissatisfaction, as if questioning why I am so cold to it. If it loses in a quarrel and fails to overwhelm me in momentum, what awaits me next is a “destruction feast”. My phone, tablet, headphone cables, and game controller cables have all been brutally bitten by it. Later, its “destruction taste” seems to have been upgraded. It specifically targets expensive items. Computers, PS4s, etc. have not been spared. Every time I see the bitten – damaged devices, I can only helplessly type “goodbye” manually, with a heart full of despair.

If it finds out that I have gone out to play alone for a whole day without taking it, it will be even more furious. It will immediately rush in front of me and quarrel with me loudly. Its voice is so loud that it seems to be able to lift the whole house. People who don’t know might think there is domestic violence. Also, if I don’t take it to the park for several consecutive days, it will quarrel with me because of this. It seems to have a special affection for the park. As soon as it steps into the park, it will run around happily, enjoying the free time to the fullest. Moreover, this little guy, for some unknown reason, is particularly keen on shopping. Every time we pass by a pet store or the entrance of a supermarket, it will look inside eagerly and meow a few times from time to time, as if signaling me to take it in and have a look.

I have to say that Siamese cats are really a bit smart, and I have a deep understanding of this. I remember a hot noon when I came home from school and found that I didn’t bring my keys. In desperation, I tried to shout at the anti – theft door loudly: “Uncle, I don’t have my keys. Open the door, open the door. I know you’re home!” Who would have thought that, with a few familiar meows, the door actually opened. At that moment, I could hardly believe my eyes. Later, I learned that my “cat uncle” often secretly opens the door of my bedroom in the middle of the night and then jumps onto the bed to fight with me for the pillow. I have never taught it that skill of opening the door. For this, I can only sincerely express my admiration.

Looking back on the bits and pieces of getting along with this Siamese cat, although it is full of quarrels and small troubles, there is more endless joy and warmth. It is like a flavor enhancer in my life, making the originally ordinary days colorful. Although I have only raised this one animal and have no other pets to compare with, I heard that I am the first person who quarrels with my own cat. Somehow, when I heard this statement, a strange sense of pride suddenly surged in my heart. Perhaps, this is the unique fate between me and it. This unique way of getting along makes me, in the days away from home, feel full of strength and warmth as long as I think of it. In the future days, I look forward to having more interesting stories with it and continuing to write this special friendship between us.
