The Journey of My Cats: Battling Illness, Welcoming New Life, and Achieving Recovery

In the long river of life, the time we spend with our pets is filled with countless joys and sorrows. For me, Heizi and May May, these two Siamese cats, have long become an indispensable part of my life.

The day before yesterday, we moved to a new home. The new place has a large balcony where Heizi can enjoy the warm sunshine all the time. However, the joy of moving was soon replaced by worry because of Heizi’s health condition. Feline calicivirus, like a stubborn devil, has been haunting him since then, causing him to have a runny nose all day and his eyes to shed tears due to inflammation. Considering his illness, I had to isolate him from May May and entrust May May to my single – living best friend. At this time, May May is about to give birth, and the expected due date is tomorrow. These days, I have been extremely busy and overwhelmed with various affairs, feeling both excited and expectant for the new life, yet also filled with unease.

Heizi’s physical examination results were not optimistic. My boyfriend, who used to like teasing him by patting his chubby little head, also started to take good care of him carefully after seeing such results. The blood routine results were relatively normal, but the biochemical examination showed that the problems with his liver and kidneys still persisted. Given his situation, the doctor dared not prescribe medicine or give injections rashly and only gave the advice of “quiet rest”. The doctor said that the repair of the liver and kidneys largely depends on the cat itself. Hearing this, I still had a glimmer of hope in my heart, firmly believing that he would get better. In order to help him recover, I immediately changed his food to liver – protecting prescription food and kidney – protecting wet food.

During the days of waiting and taking care of Heizi, time passed slowly yet full of hope. Finally, at 9:30 am on September 10, 2016, an extremely exciting piece of news came – May May successfully gave birth to four lovely little Siamese cats. At that moment, joy welled up like a tide, and all the fatigue and worry dissipated instantly.

Time flies. In the blink of an eye, almost two months have passed. The four little guys are all lively and growing up healthily. They are all chubby and very cute. However, life is always full of twists and turns. With the drop in temperature in Shenzhen, Heizi’s feline calicivirus flared up again. A few days ago, I had to send him to the hospital where his godfather, the doctor who had carefully treated him before, works for treatment. May May lost some weight after giving birth, but overall she is in good condition. Due to my busy work, I haven’t had time to update their situation. Recently, finding suitable new homes for the little babies has also become a headache for me. I sincerely hope to find loving owners for these lovely little lives.

Just today, a wonderful piece of good news arrived. Heizi went to the hospital for a reexamination, and the results showed that his liver and kidney indicators finally returned to normal! For nearly two years, Heizi has been struggling tenaciously with liver and kidney diseases, and now we finally welcome the dawn of victory. When I saw the test results, I was so excited that I almost cried. It has been really tough along the way, but our perseverance has finally paid off. I deeply understand that as long as we don’t give up hope and keep persevering, everything will get better.

Here, I would like to sincerely thank all the people who have prayed and blessed Heizi. It is your care and support that have given me the strength to maintain confidence in the difficult days. At the same time, I also want to pass on this joy and hope to everyone. May everyone’s life be filled with sunshine and everything go well.
