In my household, I have an American Shorthair female cat and a silver shaded British Shorthair female cat. Each of them gave birth to a litter. The American Shorthair had five kittens. I gave away two of them, and sold the remaining ones at an average price of 700 yuan each. The silver shaded British Shorthair had three kittens. I decided to keep one for myself, and sold the other two, one for 1000 yuan and the other for 1200 yuan.
After raising these two litters of kittens, I have completely lost the desire to breed cats on my own ever again. The situation on Xianyu is rather frustrating. There are so many people looking for a bargain. For my silver shaded British Shorthair kittens, I priced them at 1000 yuan, but most of the inquiries I received were from people who wanted to buy them for only 500 or 600 yuan. At home, both of my adult cats are fed high – quality food like Orijen chicken and raw meat. The kittens have been following the same diet since they were young. After selling these two litters of kittens, when I calculated the costs, I realized that I had essentially been working for nothing. Moreover, I was constantly annoyed by all sorts of strange people on Xianyu.

Both of the mother cats have now been spayed. Their only task for the rest of their lives is to eat well and gain some weight. Looking back on this experience of cat breeding, it has been a roller – coaster ride. At first, it was exciting to see the new lives being born. The tiny kittens with their soft fur and innocent eyes brought so much joy. But as time went on, the challenges of raising them became apparent. There were the constant concerns about their health, making sure they were getting the right nutrition, and dealing with the various issues that came with their growth.
The process of selling the kittens was also far from easy. Negotiating with potential buyers was a test of my patience. The low – ball offers from some people on Xianyu were disheartening. It seemed that they did not understand the value of the care and effort that went into raising these kittens. I had to spend time explaining the quality of the food the kittens had been fed, their vaccination status, and their overall health. Despite all these efforts, some buyers still tried to push for a much lower price.
However, through this experience, I also learned a lot. I learned about the different personalities of cats, their growth patterns, and the importance of providing them with a proper diet. Now that the breeding chapter is over, I can focus on taking care of my two beloved mother cats. They have given me so much, and I want to ensure that they live a comfortable and happy life. I will shower them with love, give them the best food, and let them enjoy their days without any worries. And perhaps, in the future, I will still be involved with cats, but in a different way, maybe through volunteering at a local animal shelter or simply being a passionate cat lover who shares the joys and challenges of cat ownership with others.
