My life took a wonderful turn when I decided to adopt Wangcai, a three – year – old cat weighing eleven pounds. Wangcai was given up for adoption by the friend of my colleague’s classmate due to work changes and family reasons. As soon as I learned about this opportunity, I knew I wanted to give this chubby feline a new home.
Wangcai arrived at my place via transportation. To my surprise and relief, on the very first night it arrived, it didn’t show any signs of stress or anxiety. Instead, as soon as it entered the door, it started eating right away. At that time, the cat litter box I had ordered hadn’t been delivered yet, so I had to use a plastic basin as a temporary substitute. The plastic basin was a bit small for it, and at first, Wangcai would accidentally knock it over or scatter the cat litter outside. But after just two days, it got used to it and managed to use it quite well.

One of the things I appreciate about Wangcai is its quiet nature. It doesn’t meow constantly. When it does make those cute “meow” sounds, it usually means it has some needs. Sometimes it wants me to clean the litter box, other times it’s asking for more food or hoping I’ll play with it. It’s a very straightforward way of communication, and I’ve come to understand its different meows quite well.
Wangcai is also very sociable and doesn’t feel shy around strangers. It can comfortably fall asleep next to unfamiliar friends, showing its trusting and easy – going personality. It has a healthy appetite, regular bowel movements, and a good sleep routine. What’s more, it has zero aggression. It never scratches or bites people. Every time I clean its tear stains, although it will shrink its body back a bit, it doesn’t run away or make a fuss. After I finish cleaning, it’s once again my lovely and obedient Wangcai.
In terms of behavior at home, Wangcai is a well – behaved cat. It doesn’t deliberately damage household items, nor does it tear the house apart or jump around wildly. It also doesn’t chew on data cables. However, it does have a naughty side – it likes to steal my snacks. It won’t touch anything too spicy but has a particular fondness for stealing eggs. It’s quite amusing to catch it in the act of trying to sneak a bite of my food.
When it comes to sleeping at night, Wangcai always wants to sleep on my bed with me. Unfortunately, I don’t allow it. Most of the time, I sleep on the bed while it sleeps on the bedside table. But it’s very persistent. It often tries to sneak onto my bed in the middle of the night or in the morning. Although I have to reject it firmly each time, I can’t help but find its attempts endearing.
Wangcai has quickly become an important part of my life. It brings me so much joy and comfort every day. Whether it’s the way it greets me when I come home, its cute expressions when it’s asking for something, or its silly attempts to get on my bed, each moment with it is precious. I feel so lucky to have this lovely cat by my side, and I look forward to many more years of sharing my life with Wangcai, creating countless beautiful memories together.
