The Charming and Hilarious Story of Erxi, My Adorable Cat

Emm… I have always thought that the name “Erxi” in Love O2O has a kind of charm where extreme commonness turns into elegance. It also carries a bit of foolishness and festivity. So, I secretly made up my mind that the first pet I would raise in the future would be named Erxi. And thus… this little fellow got his name.

He truly lives up to the name I gave him. He is both full of festivity and a bit silly. My husband likes to call him “the silly one,” while I often call him “foolish Erxi.” When he first came to our home, others all said he looked like a little fox, with a sharp chin. But his eyes were really beautiful. The only drawback was that his eyes seemed to have inflammation, and there was always discharge. His ears were also once infected with bacteria and were extremely dirty.

After seeing the vet, his ears were no longer that dirty, but they still needed to be cleaned regularly. The eye drops we used didn’t work on his eyes. Even now that he is seven months old, this is still a headache for me. Alas… Despite these problems, Erxi has grown up quickly.

I don’t know what he went through before coming to our home, but he has always been highly vigilant when sleeping. Even if I just slightly raise my hand while he is sleeping, he will immediately open his eyes wide and look at me. There is no such thing as him being impossible to wake up like some other cats. Even after six months of raising him, he is still like this.

When Erxi was four or five months old, his chin was still sharp. Worried that he wouldn’t develop jowls, I bought cat food for him on Taobao. He ate it with great relish. Every time I took out the cat food, he would be extremely excited as if he had been injected with stimulants. I heard that eating raw beef could help cats develop jowls, but I didn’t dare to try it. I was afraid that if I didn’t handle the raw meat properly, Erxi would be infected with parasites like Toxoplasma gondii. So, he ate only cooked meat. Fortunately, this silly child lived up to my expectations and gradually grew rounder.

My mother has a fear of cats. She always thinks that cats are full of bacteria and not clean. So, when I’m not at home, she always locks Erxi in a cage. For the freedom of this silly child, after getting married, I quickly found a new house and moved out. And Erxi finally became completely free.

This foolish Erxi who has let himself go in the new home! After moving into the new house, the first “major event” this silly fellow did was to go into heat. He peed on two of my quilts and a newly – bought pajama. Before that, to prevent him from getting on the bed, I even bought a yurt – style mosquito net. However, it was of no use because he would do this: [Describe how the cat gets through the net]. And then it became like this [Describe the result]. I was really both angry and amused.

To prevent him from peeing any more, before deciding whether to neuter him or not, I isolated him outside the bedroom and closed the bedroom door tightly. Amazingly, except for the bed and the litter box, he never peed anywhere else. What’s even cuter is that there is a hole in my bedroom door, and so he learned to do this: [Describe how the cat looks through the hole]. From the outside, it looks like this: [Describe the appearance seen from outside]. I really didn’t know what to say.

Finally, I decided to take him to be neutered. On the last day of 2018, I don’t know how other cats are after being neutered, but anyway, after he was neutered, I don’t know if it was because of the pain, he couldn’t sit still for a moment. He walked around with the Elizabethan collar. In the evening, he sat on my lap looking very pitiful. I was always worried that it would be inconvenient for him to eat with the collar on. Later, I found out that my worry was unnecessary… He still ate as usual… During this period, I plan to spend more time with my little cutie. Well, that’s all for now.
