My first experience of raising a cat was with this silly little guy, a silver shaded British Shorthair named Aiguai. He is both a source of endless amusement with his “silly” moments and a bit of a worrywart, making me constantly concerned about him. Thinking back on those experiences, there are so many stories that bring a mix of laughter and tears.
I received Aiguai when I was almost graduating from my senior year at university. Just two weeks after bringing him home, I discovered that he had a urinary calculus problem. He was only about two months old at that time. I couldn’t bear to give up on him, so I gritted my teeth and decided to get him treated and undergo surgery. This experience made me realize that it’s better for students who want to keep a cat to wait until they start working. Later, Aiguai accompanied me to the city where I started my job, and our journey together has been full of ups and downs.
Now, let me share some pictures of him. You know what they say, cute cats always seem to belong to others, but I think Aiguai is the most special one in my heart. The first two pictures were taken this morning. In one of them, he looks so adorable, with his big eyes shining brightly.

There’s a picture of him after I closed the window when he wanted to go outside. You can see the look of disappointment on his face, which is both funny and a bit endearing. Another picture was taken at the place where I first shared an apartment with others when I started my job. It was a new environment for both of us, and Aiguai gradually adapted to it.
I also have a picture of him as my wallpaper. He looks so goofy in that picture, and it always makes me smile when I see it. One of the most hilarious pictures is of him falling asleep while eating. Can you believe it? It’s such a typical “Aiguai” moment.
There was a picture where his chin looked a bit dark, but now that part has gotten better. Looking at him now, he’s so chubby, almost like a little pig. But when I first got him, he was so small, lonely, and helpless. When he was a kitten, he was extremely clingy, always following me around and wanting my attention. But as he grew up, things changed. Sometimes, I feel like he doesn’t need me as much as before, which makes me a little sad.
Although he may look peaceful and calm on the surface, I think my cat is actually quite violent at times. He once bit through a bottle of AD calcium milk and also damaged a tube of nutritional cream. I was really at my wits’ end when that happened. It seems like he has a lot of energy and curiosity, which sometimes leads to these unexpected “mishaps.”
The last picture shows him with a look that seems to say, “I’m so lonely!” It makes me feel a bit sorry for him and reminds me that no matter how big he grows or how independent he becomes, he still needs my love and care.
Aiguai has become an important part of my life. He has accompanied me through different stages, from my student days to my working life. Despite all the troubles and worries he has brought me, he has also filled my days with countless joys and warm memories. I will always cherish the time we spend together and do my best to take care of him, hoping that he can stay healthy and happy for a long time.
