After experiencing the pain of a broken heart, I was eager to have a warm companion to soothe my wounded soul. So, I decided to raise a cat. Although this decision was made in a hurry, I still seriously did my homework on cat – raising and bought all the necessary items except cat food in advance before going to the cattery to choose my new partner. The reason why I didn’t buy cat food in advance was that I wanted to make a choice after determining the size and specific needs of the cat.
When I walked into the cattery, there were only four silver – shaded kittens for sale. While I was looking at them, a little guy walked straight towards me, came to the edge of the cage, and meowed at me. At that moment, my heart seemed to be hit by something. Moreover, I originally planned to buy a male cat, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a little boy. Just like that, I didn’t hesitate to take it home, and since then, we have become the most important parts of each other’s lives.

When it first arrived home, although it was already two months old, its body was very small. With big eyes and a small, pointed face, it looked so pitiful and cute that people couldn’t help but want to take good care of it. This little cat is extremely obedient. It seems to know how to take care of itself from birth. It can eat, drink water, and use the litter box to go to the toilet by itself. It is not picky about food and always eats slowly. It neither overeats nor is picky about what it eats. Considering its small size, I added nutritional paste and hair – ball – control paste for it, feeding only 1 – 2 centimeters each time. It likes to eat these very much, but after eating, it won’t pester people to act coquettishly or lose its temper because there is no more. It just sniffs around. When it finds there is no more, it runs to play by itself, amusing itself and being so obedient that it makes people feel sorry for it.
What surprised me the most was that it recognized its nest on the first night it came to my home. After I told it which place was its little nest, we all went back to our rooms to sleep, and it obediently went to its nest to rest. The next morning, I couldn’t wait to go and see it. It was still quietly staying in the nest. At that moment, I knew that this little cat had a special bond with me.
It is very affectionate and likes to stay close to us, sleeping on our bodies and enjoying being held in our arms. It also has a strong adaptability. After coming to the new environment, it didn’t show any discomfort symptoms and quickly integrated into our family life. Once, it curiously ran to play on the phone. Grandpa was worried that it would get electrocuted and severely criticized it. Since then, it has never gone near the phone again. Its obedience and understanding make us love it even more.
Sometimes, looking at its small figure, I really feel very sorry for it. It is so young but so obedient and sensible that it hardly has any shortcomings. So, our whole family spoils it to the sky. It has more belongings than I do. Before the cat tree arrived, it even regarded us as its cat tree. When my dad watches TV, it will gently lie on my dad’s neck and sleep. My dad doesn’t dare to move for fear of waking it up. The scene is extremely warm. Since having it, my mom has changed her phone avatar to a photo of it. Each of us in the family has hundreds of photos of it on our phones. Every time it stretches, several of us will lean over to watch. Every move of it can attract our attention.
We have seen many photos of silver – shaded cats when they grow up and are all looking forward to seeing what our little brother will look like when he grows up. My mom thinks that it looks a bit like a little girl now and specially found a photo of a strong silver – shaded cat brother for it to “look at”, as if hoping that it can draw some “male strength” from the photo and grow into a handsome big cat soon.
Every day, when I see it running around happily in the room, I feel extremely happy. Its existence is like a ray of light shining into the gloomy life after my broken heart, making everything bright again. The days with its company are full of laughter and warm moments. It is not just a cat but an indispensable member of our family, bringing us endless joy and warmth. I am really grateful for that impulsive but extremely correct decision that let it enter our lives and allowed us to harvest this unparalleled happiness.
