In my home, there is a cat named Doubao. This name was given to it by my wife. Doubao brings us endless joy and troubles in our lives. It is like a vibrant little bomb, constantly creating all kinds of interesting “explosions” in our daily life.
Doubao has a deep love for chicken breast. It seems that chicken breast is the love of its life. It looks chubby, but those are not flabby fats. When you stroke it, you can clearly feel the strength in its body, making people think it is very sturdy. When it jumps from the bed to the ground, the loud “tong” sound is like announcing its presence. When sleeping, Doubao has a unique habit. It must share a pillow with people, and it is the kind of sleeping position where it really rests its head on the pillow. We bought a separate pillow for it specially, but it doesn’t even look at it and still persists in sharing that one pillow with us, as if only in this way can it sleep soundly.
Doubao also has a special skill that makes people laugh. When we throw a furry ball out, it will quickly run to pick up the ball like a dog and then look at you eagerly, asking you to throw it again. It is like a tireless little athlete, repeating this game with great enthusiasm until it is so tired that it is out of breath. Only then will it stop and ignore you. In addition, we accidentally discovered that Doubao likes to carry bottle caps to the bed. After continuous attempts, it has now mastered this “skill” skillfully. It often secretly carries bottle caps to the bed when we are not paying attention, as if collecting its “treasures”.
Doubao grows astonishingly fast. It seems that in the blink of an eye, it has grown from a handsome young cat into an eleven – pound “wretched old rascal”. Looking at its gradually plump figure and increasingly round face, and comparing it with its photos when it was a kitten, it is really hard to believe that it is the same cat. Once, when it was asleep, I secretly took a big picture of it. In the photo, its face is like a big washbasin, and its double chin is almost hanging down. It looks extremely ugly, but it still rests on the pillow with peace of mind. Its comfortable look seems to be saying, “This is how I look. What’s wrong!”
Although Doubao looks a bit “ferocious” on the outside, its character is as timid and soft as its name. When it meets strangers, it will immediately hide far away, as if strangers are some kind of terrifying monsters. But for acquaintances, it is very generous and allows them to stroke and rub it wantonly. However, Doubao can also be naughty. Its “achievements” have brought us a lot of troubles. It has scratched others, and we had to pay for the vaccine; it injured itself by hitting the bed, and we spent medical expenses; it is very picky about cat food. After trying many kinds, it only eats avocado – flavored cat food and ignores the rest, resulting in the waste of several bags of cat food; it also damaged a mobile phone, a set of curtains, two sets of bed sheets, and even scratched the mattress beyond recognition. Although we prepared two scratching posts and a cat climbing frame for it, it just doesn’t like to use them. It also damaged several toys. After all, its increasing weight means powerful strength. Every time we give it a bath, it is a “disaster”. It struggles like a pig being slaughtered, causing two sets of bath bags to be damaged by it.
Although Doubao has brought us so many “small troubles”, its cute appearance, unique habits, and interesting behaviors make us love it very much. It has become an indispensable member of our family. Its existence makes our lives more colorful and full of laughter. We know that in the days to come, Doubao will continue to create more “surprises”, and we will accompany it as always, spending every interesting moment.
