In my family, my parents’ experience of raising a cat perfectly illustrates the “truth – fragrance law”. To be able to have a cat, I really went to great lengths. For more than half a year, I kept “pestering” them. Every day, I talked about how cute cats were in front of my parents, and I crazily sent cat emojis in the family group. I even used the “tempting – to – buy – a – cat method”, occasionally buying some small cat – related items for the family.
My mother was the first to be persuaded by me. However, my father was very proud and always insisted on not raising a cat. He even said, “Either raise a cat or raise you. You choose.” Later, I learned that when my father was a child, there was a little cat in his family. At that time, cats were free – ranging. Unfortunately, the little cat ate rat poison by mistake and died from poisoning. When I carefully mentioned this matter, I found that as soon as my father mentioned that little cat, a smile unconsciously appeared on his face. I knew that he actually liked cats from the bottom of his heart. So, under the dual offensive of my mother and me, finally, in the days when I left home to go to school, they brought the lovely Naidou home. I was both happy and a little disappointed. Why didn’t they buy the cat when I was at home? That father who had firmly resisted raising a cat before secretly went to the cattery several times before buying Naidou. It was really annoying and funny.

Now, my parents’ lives have changed dramatically since they started raising Naidou. Their love for Naidou is simply overflowing. It has become difficult for me to have a video chat with them. It seems that I, the “big child” in the family, have fallen out of favor. Now the pattern of the family has completely changed, and everything revolves around Naidou. The cat climbing frame is so high that it almost reaches the ceiling. Naidou’s food is so good that it doesn’t even look at ordinary cat food. My parents walk the cat every day, and their exercise volume is even greater than Naidou’s. Alas, I have to say that my status in the family has dropped to the lowest.
Since the start of school, I have started the “online cat – petting” mode, and it’s the “annual subscription” type. When Naidou first arrived home, it was only two months old. It was furry and small, extremely cute. I could only watch it through videos. I was so eager to hold it that I felt like crying because of the helplessness.
When Naidou was a child, it was full of curiosity about all kinds of small things. Whether it was a small hair tie, a big toothbrush, a doll, or a slipper, as long as it could see it, it could play with it happily. Although British Shorthairs are usually known for their gentleness, Naidou’s gentleness is reflected in that it doesn’t bite or scratch people much, and it’s not shy. It’s very friendly to everyone. It is full of curiosity every day. It seems that there is nothing in the world that it is not interested in. It is always exploring everywhere, running around happily as soon as it starts running.
There were so many interesting moments in Naidou’s growth process that there were too many photos to count. In a blink of an eye, it is already more than six months old. Recently, I finally went home. The excitement and joy I felt were like those of a large – scale netizen meeting. I believe those who have raised pets can understand.
Naidou is very naughty now. It will secretly climb onto my bed in the middle of the night. Sometimes it looks like a “tough guy from Northeast China”, very majestic, as if saying “Who dares to mess with me”; but sometimes it is as cute as a little angel, making people’s hearts melt. This little guy especially likes to go out to play. Every time it meows pitifully at the door, it’s really hard to refuse. Although I know I can’t let it out, seeing its cute appearance, I still can’t help but compromise, “All right, all right. I’ll take you out, okay?”
Naidou is really very clingy, like a little cat plaster, always following people around. Sometimes it will secretly follow you, thinking that you don’t know. Its appearance is very funny. When you sleep, it will lie beside the bed, or make trouble beside you; when you go to the toilet, it will follow closely; sometimes it will even lie at the door crack and peek at you. It also likes to hide under the bed sheet or curtain and secretly touch your feet, thinking that I won’t find it through the bed sheet. But with its big figure and the tail exposed outside, how could it be ignored? It’s really extremely cute. Sometimes when my parents go out, it will lie obediently at the door waiting. When my parents go out, it will meow softly at the door. After my parents come back, they will say that they feel guilty for leaving Naidou alone at home and want to buy it dried small fish as compensation. Looking at these interesting interactions between my parents and Naidou, I also feel particularly warm. Although my status at home has “plummeted”, seeing that Naidou has brought so much joy to the family, everything is worth it.
