My Cat Erxi: A Journey of Growth and Endearing Quirks

My Cat Erxi: A Journey of Growth and Endearing Quirks

When Erxi first entered my home, its thin appearance made people feel pity. At that time, it was less than four months old and weighed less than two pounds. However, thankfully, it was in very good health and had an excellent appetite. It ate everything with gusto. Changing cat food was no problem for it at all. It seemed that as long as it was edible, it would accept it. In order to make it gain weight quickly, I decisively replaced the domestic cat food it ate in the cattery with natural grain – free cat food. From that moment on, my wallet was like a faucet with the tap turned on, and money flowed out continuously.

Nearly two months after Erxi arrived home, it underwent a magical transformation, turning into a little handsome guy. The sparse hair on its nose grew back, and the color was no longer so black. It looked pink and cute. Its face also changed from a sharp – pointed V – shaped face to a round and chubby bun – shaped face, becoming even more adorable. At that time, its appearance value was simply off the charts. I often looked at it, filled with joy, feeling like I had found a treasure.

However, good times are always short – lived. As Erxi’s baby hair gradually fell out and adult hair began to grow, its coat color changed in an unexpected way – it actually turned black. The black stripes on its legs, which were originally there, became more obvious, and overall, it looked more and more “muddy”. What’s more frustrating is that its originally round face due to cheek – puffing became thin again after sterilization. After some observation and thinking, I belatedly came to the conclusion that there was probably a cat with impure blood in its ancestors, and it was cross – bred.

Although Erxi’s appearance value decreased, its unique personality became more prominent. It had a firm look in its eyes (although in fact, it often looked at people sideways and seemed a bit “cocky”), and it often put its hands on the shelf, looking pensive, as if seriously thinking about the meaning of cat life.

Erxi has a strong interest in the Animal World program. Every time the TV is switched to the Animal World, it becomes extremely excited, with its eyes fixed on the screen, not willing to leave for a moment. I usually let it watch the Animal World for a while in the evening, but its attention can only last for about two minutes. Then it will fall asleep. Its cute and naive appearance often makes me laugh heartily.

It also especially likes to watch birds. In its spare time, it always likes to lie in the sink or bathtub to sleep, as if it feels these places are extremely comfortable. As soon as it hears the sound of the small plate I use to serve canned food, within five seconds, it will appear at my feet on time, looking at me with its watery eyes, with a pitiful look that makes it impossible to refuse its request for canned food.

Erxi’s eating habits are also very unique. It likes corn even more than meat. Every time it sees corn, it will rush over impatiently and eat it with gusto. It also has an interesting action, which is the “mysterious paw – licking”. Because its legs are too short or its flexibility is too poor, every time it licks its fur, it has to press its body with its front paws to reach the fur on its body. Its appearance makes people laugh.

As Erxi gradually grows up, I find that its personality has become cold and somewhat scheming. When it became an adult, it was no longer as clingy as when it was a kitten and no longer willing to sleep on the bed. However, it also has a caring side. Every night, it will provide me with a wake – up service on time. In the morning when I get up, it will become extremely clingy, rubbing against me non – stop and leading me towards the kitchen, hinting that it wants to eat canned food. Once the canned food is finished, it will immediately wipe its mouth and walk away with a twist of its buttocks, as if the previous intimacy was just an illusion. Sometimes, it will suddenly come towards me, rubbing against me or meowing loudly. That must mean it has an idea again. Either it wants to eat canned food or it wants to roll around and take a walk in the corridor. By the way, it can also “help” mop the corridor (this is a habit it developed during estrus and has not changed since sterilization). Its behavior is becoming more and more like that of a little dog, and its meowing is also very strange. Either it is a howling type with twists and turns, or it is a “quack – quack” sound like a duck. I have suspected several times that it listened to dogs barking too much when it was a kitten and even learned their barking.

Erxi is also very good at posing for selfies. Sometimes it poses in a domineering president’s angle, looking extremely cool. Looking at its cute and funny appearance, I always can’t help but pick up my phone to record these interesting moments. There are so many little daily stories about Erxi that I can never finish writing them. It has become an indispensable part of my life. I only hope that my Erxi will always be the most handsome, coolest, most special, and at the same time, the healthiest cat, accompanying me through the long years.
