In my life, cats were not the creatures I preferred. I always thought that cats were too spiritual, seemingly having their own independent little world, which was difficult to fathom. However, my boyfriend had a special affection for cats and always longed to have one of our own.
So, we went to the cattery, originally planning to bring home a British Shorthair cat. But the moment I walked into the cattery, a particular cat instantly caught my eye. It had a pair of big eyes, and its cute and lovely appearance stood out among all the cats. I was immediately captivated by it, and my eyes couldn’t move away from it. At that moment, I decided that it was the one. Although I didn’t like cats at first, its cuteness changed my mind. However, I still want to advise those friends who want to become cat owners that they must understand the cat’s breed and habits well before making a decision. Don’t be like us. Due to our lack of understanding, we bought a Scottish Fold cat. After all, everyone hopes that their cat can accompany them healthily and happily. When I confirmed that it was a Scottish Fold cat, I even cried because I knew that Scottish Fold cats might face some health problems. But even so, the moment I held it in my arms, I couldn’t bear to let it go. Women are indeed fickle!
We brought it home on New Year’s Day in 2019. At first, I wanted to name it Niannian, but my boyfriend thought the name sounded a bit old – fashioned and didn’t match its cute temperament. So, we renamed it Tiaotiao. As it turned out, this name was really appropriate. Just like its name, it is very lively. It has set foot in every place in the house that it can jump to.
When we first brought Tiaotiao home, it was still a bit shy and always looked wronged, which made people feel pity. In the first few days after it came, the chair cover at home was still intact, but it didn’t take long for its lively and active nature to show.
Tiaotiao seems to have a special love for the keyboard. Every time I work on the computer or try to book tickets, I have to be careful to prevent it from pressing the keyboard. Once, to prevent it from causing trouble, I stood the computer up, but how could this stump it? It could still find a comfortable place to sleep, which really made me feel annoyed and amused.
Whenever I watch a video, Tiaotiao will always run over and circle around me, as if saying, “What’s so interesting about the video? Look at me!” It always tries every means to attract my attention. Except for the cat bed, there is no place where it can’t sleep. It will sleep on my legs, body, in my hair, in the quilt, and even brazenly on my face. It is really a spoiled little cat! Sometimes, it will obediently watch the video with me and, by the way, drink some water from my cup. When it is in a good mood, it will cooperate with me to take a photo. Its cute appearance is really endearing.
Although Tiaotiao usually looks very cute, in fact, it also has a fierce side. When it feels that its territory is threatened or wants to protect its food, it will show its sharp claws and make fierce cries. However, these little tempers, in my opinion, are also part of its unique personality.
The arrival of Tiaotiao has greatly changed my life. Its liveliness and cuteness have brought me endless joy and gradually made me like cats. Although I know that raising a Scottish Fold cat may face some challenges, I will do my best to give it a happy and healthy life and accompany it through every wonderful moment. I believe that in the days to come, Tiaotiao will bring me more surprises and touches, and we will create more unforgettable memories together.
