On the long journey of life, I welcomed a special partner – the cat Duo’er. Now two years old, I decided to adopt it when I was living alone. At that time, I was often shrouded in loneliness. However, deep in my heart, I knew that I might not be able to bear overly dependent and expectant emotions. I have always had a special fondness for cats because I appreciate their innate independence. Even now, this view has never changed. Sometimes Duo’er shows her dislike for me, but I am actually stupidly happy about it. The more independent she is and the less she needs my constant company, the more at ease I feel when I have to leave home.
Duo’er is extremely picky when it comes to food. She is not interested in eating at all but has an almost obsessive love for drinking water. Before she turned one year old, her weight always hovered around over four catties. In order to make her gain some weight, I really racked my brains. I continuously provided various cat foods and small snacks, but she was extremely harsh on food. After tasting each kind of snack once, she would never show any interest again. At that time, I was so stupid that I thought she liked them, so I hoarded and bought a large amount. In the end, these small snacks had to be helplessly given to other people’s cats, which made me so angry that my eyes went straight.

When it comes to Duo’er’s love for water, it is really extreme. Whether it is the water in the water basin, the water flowing from the faucet, the water in the water cup, the water for watering flowers, the water for washing rags, or even the water in the toilet, as long as there is water, she will not miss it. The wide range of places where she drinks water often makes me laugh. Sometimes, after she drinks enough water, the number of times she urinates is really amazing. My parents also belong to the type who dote on their children. Knowing that Duo’er doesn’t like to drink water from a bowl, they specially bought a washbasin for her to use. Therefore, whenever you enter my house, you can see a washbasin on the ground with a little water in it. That is Duo’er’s exclusive “drinking place”.
Duo’er has a perfect temper. I especially like to rub her fur. If she is not happy, she just runs away silently. She has never lost her temper even once and never scratches people. Although she occasionally makes a little mess, she is extremely measured. For example, she likes to scratch the slippers on my feet, but as soon as she touches my feet, her actions will immediately become gentle. Once, I pretended to be scratched by her and let out a strange cry. She just stared at me blankly, as if to say, “Master, I didn’t mean it.” Her confused eyes instantly made the little grievance in my heart disappear.
Duo’er’s existence has added a lot of color to my plain and lonely life. Her independence has taught me to respect her personality. Her picky eating and love for water have become interesting topics in our lives, and her good temper has made me feel endless warmth. In those days when I was alone, she accompanied me silently. Although she is not as clingy as other cats, she gives me comfort in her own unique way. I am very fortunate to have a special partner like Duo’er. In the future, I look forward to creating more beautiful memories with her, witnessing more of her growth moments, and continuing to enjoy this special companionship.
