In the wonderful journey of raising a cat, I welcomed a special family member – Baozi, a retired cat adopted from a cat café. When it came to my home at the age of two and a half, it was like a warm little sun, instantly lighting up my life.
Baozi is a real delicate baby. It is gentle, lovely, and has a soft and cute personality. A gentle push will make it “fall over”. When I call its name, it will meow in response, as if having a serious conversation with me. On the first day it came home, with its cute appearance and gentle nature, it won the love of my parents. It has incredibly good habits. It never rummages through the trash can, scratches the sofa, or knocks things off the table. Even when walking around on the tea tray, it won’t knock over the teacups. Such a well – behaved cat, how could anyone not love it? Its big, watery eyes seem to hide countless little secrets. Anyone who sees it will find it hard to resist the temptation and just wants to spoil it.

Although Baozi looks chubby, it actually only weighs six and a half catties. The typical round face of a British Shorthair and the long fur of a silver shaded British Shorthair make it look like a little piglet. My friends all thought it weighed more than ten catties. It’s like a little weakling. After playing with toys for just five minutes, it will be out of breath, looking both cute and pitiful. It also loves wearing a little bib, looking as cute and well – behaved as a delicate little princess. Sometimes when I hold it in my arms, it will look reluctantly, but this just adds to its cuteness.
I’ve recorded every bit of Baozi’s life. In January 2018, before I brought it home, it was pregnant. It looked both gentle and had a touch of maternal glory. In the photo taken in November, although its weight didn’t change much, with its thick winter fur, it became even fluffier, like a little fur ball.
Every day spent with Baozi is filled with joy. When I come home during the holidays, it still loves me as always. It will smell my hand, and after confirming it’s me, it will happily rub against me and then lie down beside me to sleep. That warm companionship fills my heart with happiness.
There have been many interesting little episodes in taking care of Baozi. When I give it deworming medicine, it will be very angry, thinking that I held it for so long and put the medicine on its neck, as if saying “I’ll never talk to you again”. But as soon as I take out the paste, it will immediately forget the unhappiness and eat it with relish, leaving a beautiful back view. Its greedy and cute appearance makes me laugh.
On sunny days, Baozi will lie on the table to soak up the sun and watch the little birds outside the window. The whole cat exudes a warm and cozy atmosphere. Sometimes when I see it like this, I also relax and enjoy this wonderful time.
In life, besides Baozi, I also met two little stray cats – Xiao Hei and Xiao Ju. They are very affectionate. Xiao Hei is so sweet. When stretching, it will put its front paws on my legs. When I squat down, it will lean its head against my neck. It looks so endearing. But considering Baozi’s personality, I’m worried that bringing in a second cat will make it sick. So I put a cat bed that Baozi doesn’t like downstairs for them and go downstairs from time to time to add cat food and water. I also posted adoption information, hoping to find a warm home for them. Fortunately, Xiao Hei found an adopter and happily went to a young lady’s home as a second cat, and it gets along well with the resident cat. This makes me very relieved.
Now I’m about to go back to school, and I really can’t bear to part with Baozi. I silently say to it in my heart: “Wait for sister to come back, my dear baby.” I believe that the warm bond between me and Baozi will continue, and there will be more beautiful memories waiting for us in the future.
