In the days I’ve spent with Ximi, my silver shaded British Shorthair cat, its gentle and lovely personality has brought me countless joys and touches, and I’ve truly experienced what it’s like to be a “manager” of a feline “male star”.
Ximi has a perfect personality. It’s extremely friendly to people. When I reach out to stroke it, it never resists. Instead, it will actively roll over and expose its soft belly, as if inviting me to pet it to my heart’s content. Once I start stroking, it will enjoy it so much that it keeps purring and doesn’t want me to stop. It never extends its claws to hurt people. Whether it’s trimming its nails, cleaning its eyes, or cleaning its ears, it cooperates obediently and allows others to do as they please, just like a super gentle little angel.
As we got to know each other better, Ximi became even more clingy. It always follows me closely. Wherever I go, it goes. My friends around were attracted by Ximi’s cuteness when they saw the photos I shared. They often asked me for more photos, as if they were “virtually petting” the cat. And I, without realizing it, became Ximi’s exclusive “manager”, happily recording every bit of its life. To keep an eye on its activities at any time, I bought a Xiaomi camera. Through it, I secretly watched Ximi sleeping, nibbling its paws, and grooming its fur. Sometimes, I even talked to it through the camera and occasionally scared it to see its cute and dazed reactions.

During the Spring Festival, since I had to go out, I had to send Ximi to a boarding place. There was also a little British Shorthair kitten in blue color boarding there with it. To my surprise, Ximi often gave its cat food to the little blue kitten. I’m not sure if it was being generous or a bit timid. Maybe it missed me too much (although this might just be my imagination), and because it didn’t eat well, when I picked it up, I found that it had ringworm. The once lively Ximi became autistic instantly. When we got home, it lay beside the litter box, looking completely listless. Although I felt sorry for it, seeing its dejected appearance, I couldn’t help laughing.
During Ximi’s ringworm period, I isolated it in a cage and forced it to sunbathe. Due to the limited range of activities, it became very unhappy, and its appearance declined sharply. It became so thin that it looked haggard with a pointed mouth and sunken cheeks. To make it recover soon, I insisted on applying medicine to it every day and feeding it various nutritional supplements and chicken breasts. To make it more comfortable, I replaced the ordinary Elizabethan collar with a small pillow-shaped one. Under my careful care, Ximi gradually regained its former cuteness, and its small V-shaped face became round again.
After the ringworm was cured, Ximi’s appetite increased greatly. It ate more and more and couldn’t stop, gradually becoming as round as a ball. Perhaps it was my unwavering care during its illness that made our relationship even closer. Now, as long as I’m at home, if it can’t see me, it will keep meowing. Sometimes, after playing with toys by itself, it will come to me and “miaowu wu” as if sharing its play experience with me. When I watch TV, it will lean against me and lie quietly beside me. When I study, it will rest its head on my feet and sleep peacefully. As soon as I reach out my hand, it will actively rub its small head against me. While rubbing, it will lie down and expose its belly, asking me to pet it.
Maybe because Ximi is a male cat, it doesn’t like taking photos very much. Every time I hold it for a selfie, the photos are full of its funny expressions, which makes me laugh.
Recently, Ximi is gaining weight at a visible speed. To keep it healthy, I decided to take it out for a walk, so I bought a harness for it. Fortunately, it cooperated with me. However, as soon as we went out the door, it lay on me and refused to get down no matter what. Its timid appearance was really annoying and funny at the same time.
During the time I’ve spent with Ximi, it has brought me endless warmth and happiness. Its company has made my life more colorful. I also hope that everyone can be as lucky as I am, having both cats and dogs at a young age, and getting their own lovely pets as soon as possible to harvest full happiness.
