In my home, the life of my cat Xianyu is full of richness and color, filled with all kinds of interesting stories. Recently, Xianyu successfully upgraded to being a father, a change that has brought me both surprise and emotion.
The fate between Xianyu and the silver shaded British Shorthair female cat Daqiao wasn’t promising at first. More than a month ago, I took Xianyu to meet Daqiao, hoping that they could get along well and form a bond. Daqiao’s owner said that within four days, there was no sign of any intimate behavior between Xianyu and Daqiao. Even when Daqiao presented her rear end in front of Xianyu, Xianyu remained indifferent. At that time, I was deeply disappointed and thought that they might not be a good match, so I gave up hope. However, life is always full of surprises. Later, I received good news from Daqiao’s owner. It turned out that they had successfully mated, but the owner just didn’t witness the process. Daqiao’s expected due date is the 27th, which fills me with anticipation for the arrival of new lives.
Finally, Daqiao gave birth. As her first litter, Daqiao actually gave birth to seven kittens, which was quite a pleasant surprise.Although it’s within the expected range for a female cat’s first litter to have a kitten with such a fate, I still felt a bit sad. The process of giving birth was also quite interesting. When the fifth kitten was born, everyone thought it was over. Unexpectedly, half an hour later, Daqiao gave birth to two more kittens, which was really a pleasant shock.
Xianyu has a very unique personality in daily life. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s too kind or just naturally innocent, but no matter what I do to it, it never gets angry. When I give it a bath, it’s obedient and will just meow a few times to show its dissatisfaction. If I accidentally step on it, it just cries out and never uses its claws or bites. There was only one time when it accidentally hurt me while we were playing with a cat teaser. I’ve been taking care of it for over a year, and I’ve rescued two stray kittens (both around two or three months old) during this time. Every time I brought the little stray kittens home, Xianyu didn’t show any reaction. It didn’t act aggressively towards them, didn’t hiss, and didn’t puff up its fur. Instead, it was the little kittens that were aggressive towards it, and Xianyu just looked confused, which was really amusing.
To keep the house clean, I have to keep it in a cage when I go out. I even asked the neighbors if they had heard it meowing, and they said no.
Xianyu’s daily life is also full of fun. Sometimes it shows a mean and sarcastic expression, and other times it looks like a sneaky old man cooling off under the air conditioner vent. It often interferes with my computer time, rubbing against me and wanting me to play with it. Its sleeping postures are even more peculiar, with all kinds of twisted positions that make people burst into laughter.
It has brought me endless joy and warmth in my life and has also deepened my understanding of the cat world. I hope Xianyu can take good care of its kittens, and I hope all these little kittens can grow up healthily and happily. In the future, I will continue to record the stories of Xianyu and its kittens and share every bit of their lives.
