The Story of My Adorable Cat Pangshiyi

The Story of My Adorable Cat Pangshiyi

Her name is Pangshiyi. She is a nearly two-year-old female British Shorthair Silver Shaded cat.

I have to say that ever since I started raising her, I’ve become a frequent visitor to all kinds of cat-raising and cat-sharing groups. I used to find it annoying to join even one more group, but now I can’t wait to take out my phone and show everyone how cute my Pangshiyi is whenever I meet someone.

When I told my best friends that I wanted to keep a cat, they all thought I was crazy. Because I used to be a serious cat phobic. But somehow, during that period, I really wanted to have a cat with a chubby head, a round face, and big round eyes. My best friend didn’t say a word and directly took me to her friend’s cat café. Coincidentally, the owner of the cat café knew that I was coming to choose a cat that day and brought several cats that had already received their vaccinations and could be taken away immediately.

It’s really quite strange. There seems to be some kind of fate between a cat finding its owner and the owner choosing their cat. When I entered the cat café, I thought I’d tease all these cats that could be taken away and take home the one that I had the most fun with. However, all of them were sleeping, and the cat teaser and cat treats didn’t work much. Just as I was about to come back another time to tease them, a small British Shorthair Silver Shaded cat with a round head rubbed against my feet. Then it jumped onto the sofa and naturally lay on my lap, purring happily. I immediately decided to take her home.

The day I took her home happened to be Double 11. While waiting for the shop owner to clean her, we went to have some hot pot. Everyone put their heads together to think of a name for the cat. My husband slapped his thigh and said, since we got her on Double 11, let’s call her Shiyi. And so, Shiyi was brought home by us. Now, because of her body shape, we usually call her Pangshiyi, Maomituotuo or Pangshi.

This is what she looked like just a week after she came home. At that time, she was a little over five months old, almost six months.

I had never raised a pet before and was always worried that I wouldn’t be able to take good care of her. But Shiyi is really an angel cat. As soon as she entered the house, she knew where the litter box was and went in to pee and poop obediently. When we went to bed at night, we closed the bedroom door. I was worried that she might meow all night in the new environment. In fact, she only meowed for less than five minutes when we first went in, and then she was quiet all night. Until we were about to come out of the bedroom in the morning, she heard the noise and squatted at the door, meowing and waiting for us.
