The Heartwarming Story of Cat Shiyi and Our Family

The Heartwarming Story of Cat Shiyi and Our Family

We didn’t tell our parents on both sides about keeping a cat at the beginning, especially my mom, who has a serious case of cleanliness obsession. Later, once, my husband had to go on a business trip for more than half a month. My mom was worried that I would order takeout every day when I was home alone, and she insisted on coming to stay with me. That’s when the fact that we had a cat was bound to be exposed.

Unexpectedly, my mom staged a “truth is so sweet” drama as soon as she entered the house. She had repeatedly said before that she didn’t want us to keep a pet because there were too many bacteria and viruses. But after seeing Shiyi, the whole house was filled with the sound of my mom looking for and teasing the cat. During the week she stayed at my house, my mom’s phone memory was probably filled with pictures of the cat. During this time, my mother-in-law also learned that we had a cat and came to visit specially. She liked Shiyi so much that she directly set the screensaver of her phone to a picture of Shiyi.

After that, the daily routine was that both moms would call me on WeChat Video. The first thing they said every time was, “What’s Shiyi doing? Show her to me.”…

I often wonder why this silly chubby cat is so fat. It’s probably because she really doesn’t like to move. She can lie in all kinds of positions, and she likes to lie on her back with her belly exposed the most, allowing you to pet her.

This is a photo of her taken when she was one year old. Her eyes are particularly beautiful.

She really likes to play with earphones and the plugs of sockets.

She often “hatches cat eggs” at home, as if she could really hatch kittens.

She likes to interrupt you when you’re reading, studying, or typing on the computer the most. In short, there’s no doubt that Ms. Pangshiyi is the stumbling block on the road to progress in my family.

Now this little chubby cat is almost two years old. Every day when you open the door and see her lying on her back waiting for you, really, all the hardships of the day disappear.

A good relationship is mutual and equal. Thank you, the cat named Tuotuo, for your company. You’ve made me realize that there are such lovely creatures in the world that can make you fall in love with them.

I hope she grows up healthily and doesn’t get any fatter. I hope she will become fond of cat food and stop bickering with the birds on the bay window every day. Mom will be with you, just like you’re with mom and dad.

Just like the saying in “Kedi: A Cat’s Eye View of Istanbul”: “A cat meows at your feet and looks up at you. In fact, this is life smiling at you. Those lucky moments are all reminders that we are still alive.”

It seems like domestication, but in fact, it’s a kind of healing.
