Life with Egg Yolk Pig: My Journey as a Cat Parent

This little guy is such a pig—all he does is sleep, eat, and repeat. In just three days, he gained 0.4 kg. I’m speechless…

Today, I tried to give him deworming medicine by crushing it and mixing it into goat milk powder. But this clever little thing sniffed it out and refused to eat it. I was so frustrated that I went out and ate a bowl of hot dry noodles.

The worst part is, he has no idea I’m mad at him and acts like nothing happened. Infuriating!

Update: January 16

It’s Egg Yolk Pig’s fifth day at home and his third day fully adapting. He’s got no shame—he jumps onto the bed with a little hop and insists on cuddling while sleeping.

As for eating, he’s a bottomless pit. By the third day, I could already see he’d grown longer. It’s not just my imagination.

Since getting a pet, my family status has plummeted. Seriously. (Goodbye, manual wave.)

Here’s a silly photo of him.

Update: January 14

This little thing is such a pig… He naps three or four times a day.

His personality is perfect—super lively, playful, and gentle. He’s already the favorite in my family. The three of us are constantly doting on him, which means my place in the family hierarchy is in serious jeopardy.

Tears.

I took Pig for a checkup to test for feline distemper or feline herpesvirus, just to ease my worries.

A cool bag carrying a cool little guy.

The test results came back quickly—he’s healthy. I finally breathed a sigh of relief.

I finally have the qualifications to answer this question. Let me sprinkle some flowers~~

In 2015, I started “cloud cat petting” (online cat videos). On January 11, 2018, I officially entered true cat servant mode.

The night I brought Egg Yolk Pig home, he was extremely uncomfortable, hiding everywhere. But by midnight, he was much better, pawing at the edge of the bed demanding a massage. His clingy nature was already showing.

By yesterday, after eating some chicken breast, canned food, and cat kibble, his pig-like essence was fully revealed. I wasn’t fully prepared before bringing him home—mostly because I didn’t think I’d actually get to bring him home. So, all his supplies were bought the day he arrived.

I aired out my bedroom and put him in a little hammock inside his cage. He slept like… well, you know.

Now he’s sleeping on my lap while I sit on the bed, too scared to lie down even though I’m exhausted.

British Shorthairs are so clingy! I remember petting a cat from a big shot on Zhihu, and that one was just as clingy. This little guy can’t stand being alone—if I close the door, he meows nonstop.

About his name: At first, I was torn between names like French Fries, Sugar Cake, and Pan-Fried Bun. I even considered names like Spicy Soup, Stewed Noodles, and Fried Dumplings. In the end, I rolled the dice and decided on Egg Yolk Pig. The whole process really exposed my true nature as his servant.

Since becoming a cat parent, I’ve been constantly worried, but the joy he brings makes it all worth it.

Egg Yolk Pig, your mom wishes you a healthy growth. I look forward to seeing you grow into a beautiful big cat.
