On May 17th, 2018, I got my first cat in my life. It was a little blue and white cat without any pedigree, and its whole body was covered with ringworm. My husband named him Big Bing. When I first saw him, he was locked in a cage with two big cats and was lying in the litter box. When I took him out, he ran around curiously. As a first-time cat owner, the pet store didn’t recommend me to adopt this cat, saying that he had a lot of ringworm and it might be contagious to me. I don’t know why, but I just liked him very much and couldn’t wait to take him home. Then I realized that he was the smallest one in the litter and also the one with the worst nutrition. At first, when I brought him back, he secretly hid in the crack of the door.
Later, we took him to the hospital for treatment and found that it wasn’t just ringworm. He also had psittacosis chlamydia and very serious ear mites. Every day, besides giving him medicine and applying ointment, I also had to clean his ears. His hands and feet were covered with the dirty secretions from the ringworm. That day, I cleaned him up and applied the medicine. The medicated bath started when he grew a little older. Because he had been lying in the litter box since he was a kitten, the fur on his chest was basically yellow. The doctor said that it could only be replaced by his own molting later. During this period, my husband and I were infected with ringworm all over our bodies, patch by patch. In the hot and humid summer in Guangzhou, the itching on our bodies was unbearable. Thinking that Big Bing must be feeling the same way, I made up my mind to definitely cure his illness and make him a healthy and happy cat.

The little guy during the recovery period had no fur on his nose either. He slept in various places at home and ran around every day. He would do some exercise when he was free and then sleep again after a while. Compared with cats of the same age, his weight was still much lighter, but his body was basically getting better gradually.
Later, due to continuous rainy days, the ringworm seemed to relapse on his chin and forehead. He scratched himself until he bled. I quickly applied the medicine and it got better after a few days. As he grew up, his resistance improved a lot.
I made a small nest for Big Bing with an unused cardboard box at home. But not long after, because his weight increased rapidly, he couldn’t fit into the small nest anymore. Hahaha.
My friends all said that Big Bing wasn’t a purebred British Shorthair and didn’t have the characteristics of a British Shorthair. His face was pointed. But we all raised him as our own child. No matter what he grew up to be like, I loved him all the same. It had nothing to do with whether he was a purebred or not. Since he was a kitten, he had been eating canned food and cat food from Ziwi Peak. Recently, because he got tired of it, we temporarily replaced it with K9.
As he grew up slowly, at eight months old, he weighed eight pounds, and his weight didn’t change much after that.
Hahaha, there were his nests everywhere. Even the bottommost part of the shoe cabinet had a space reserved for him without putting shoes there.
He always slept in very strange postures every day and watched my husband play games every night.
Christmas is here!!!
This is what he looks like now. The small tuft of white fur on the tip of his tail has also grown back. Maybe he doesn’t look like what people think a British Shorthair should look like, but I love him very much. He is the precious Big Bing of our family. Recently, he has been fed by his grandma and his weight is almost nine pounds. Three months ago, I got pregnant, and Big Bing is going to be a big brother! I have no intention of not keeping him at all. I hope that both Big Bing and the new baby can grow up healthily.

Big Bing looking surprised…
Big Bing looking shy…
Because he had deworming treatment and his skin was too sensitive, he scratched off his own fur and had to wear a collar… Hahaha.
Both of us are getting fatter and fatter…
