I have a cat named Zhubabao.
As the name implies, he has now grown into a chubby “pig – like” cat.
I’m a second – hand cat owner. Since I was afraid that a little kitten would be difficult to raise and I was a novice, I was worried that I couldn’t take good care of it. So, I bought an older cat on Xianyu. Zhubabao came to my home when he was 7 months old.
When he first arrived, Zhubabao was extremely clingy. Every day when I got home, he would jump on me and “kiss” me. And when I took a bath, he would wait for me at the door. He followed me everywhere without making a sound, just looking at me with his big, bright eyes. Now I think that at that time, just having changed homes, he must have been insecure and afraid that I would abandon him. Let me show some photos of him being so clingy when he was 7 months old.
This guy was only lovable for about two or three months. Later, he couldn’t keep up the act and his true nature was revealed. When he was about 10 months old and got familiar with this home, Zhubabao was no longer cautious. He gradually realized his “ownership” status. He would show me his temper whenever he wanted, as if he finally put our relationship in order: This person might not be my master, but just my cat – litter – cleaning servant. Then he no longer looked at me with those bright, pitiful eyes, but squinted at me with a haughty look…

During that period, he got sick. He had feline rhinotracheitis that kept recurring, and I had to take him to the hospital. Maybe he will never forget the terrifying scene of me and the doctor holding his legs and hands respectively and pressing him on the table to take his rectal temperature. He must have written down this “grudge” in his little “book”. During that time, he almost didn’t let me hold him. As soon as I got close to him with a glance, he would glare at me fiercely. I was so wronged! Here are some photos of the fierce – looking Zhubabao during the transformation period…
Now, Zhubabao is a little over one year old and is gradually entering the “middle – aged” stage. After all, he can’t escape the fate of middle – aged weight gain and is becoming more and more like an “old master”. He is getting lazier and more “free – spirited”. He always sleeps with his four limbs spread out, and I have become his “human – shaped couch”. He can sleep 20 hours a day and looks as if he is living a life of dissipation every day.
In addition, Zhubabao has been neutered. Apparently, he has understood his tragic cat fate, knowing that he will never be able to court beautiful female cats in this life. So, he has become more and more “Buddhist – like”. He is in a state of “meditation” every day, and only occasionally has a sudden outburst, perhaps suddenly remembering that he still has an “old mother”. So, occasionally when he wakes up suddenly from sleep, he jumps on me, steps on me a couple of times, pats me twice, and then swaggers away… Showing off his “power” in daily life!
The last photo is a picture of me and Zhubabao enjoying the moon on the Mid – Autumn Festival.
(May we all be blessed with longevity. Though far apart, we are still able to share the beauty of the moon together.)
Although my Zhubabao is not as clingy and affectionate as before, I will always love you! My son, my little baby. Although I raise you in a rough way, I will redouble my efforts to take good care of you!
