Food Bowl, Water Bowl, and Cat Food
If possible, buy a water bowl that can keep the water circulating for your cat. Cats are more likely to drink from it. If not, you can just use two regular bowls as the food bowl and water bowl. It’s best to follow the cat – breeding cattery’s recommendation for cat food because the food for a three – month – old kitten is different from that for an adult cat.
Cat Litter Box and Cat Litter
It’s advisable to first ask what kind of cat litter was used before adoption, whether it’s bentonite or tofu cat litter. If the cat changes its living environment and the type of cat litter at the same time, it may not know where to go to the toilet. If you want to change the cat litter, it’s okay to wait until the cat gets used to the new environment.
Cat Bed
This is something that your cat may not necessarily use. It might sleep on the sofa, the carpet, in the toilet, etc., but definitely not in the cat bed. However, it also depends on the individual cat. It’s okay to prepare one.
Cat Carrier and Airline Crate
Since you’re a new cat owner and the cat is not familiar with you yet, it’s safer to put the cat in a cat carrier when taking it home or to the vet. The cat will also feel more secure in it. As for the airline crate, it’s mostly used for long – distance trips. (Remember to put a pee pad inside.)

This is very important! To prevent your furniture from being damaged and to protect your sofa, you need to provide a cat scratching post because cats love to scratch their claws. Without it, your sofa and other furniture will suffer.
Cleaning Supplies and Cat Bed
Cat Bed: There are many types of cat beds, but most cats don’t sleep in them. It’s up to you to decide whether to buy one, though it may end up being useless.
Cleaning Supplies: You don’t need them in the first few months because kittens are very clean and delicate. Bathing them can easily make them catch a cold.
Entertainment Supplies
Items like cat teaser wands are mainly used to play with the cat and strengthen the bond between you and the cat. Don’t use your hands to play with the cat because kittens will use their teeth and claws during play. So, it’s better to use a cat teaser wand.
Regular Vet Visits, Vaccinations, and Deworming
Finally, a cat is very cautious when it first arrives in a strange environment. It needs a few days to get familiar with the surroundings. During these days, it’s best not to force contact with it, or you may get hurt. However, you can try to interact with it using a cat teaser wand.
