Comprehensive Guide to Cat Care: Diet, Hygiene and Living Conditions

Regarding Diet

The main diet should be cat food, supplemented with cat canned food, nutritional paste and other special auxiliary foods. You can also cook for your cat at home, combining meat and vegetables without adding human seasonings. This way, it can be both nutritious and delicious!

You can buy cat food online. Mix several brands to avoid nutritional deficiencies. In the past six months, you should mix in urinary tract prescription cat food.

Avoid feeding your cat human food (especially food with high oil and salt content). Don’t get into the habit of throwing vegetables to it.

You can supplement vitamins intermittently in small amounts. A few tablets per week are enough. Don’t over – supplement.

Regarding Drinking

Don’t let your cat drink tap water. It should drink the same kind of water as humans (not exceeding room temperature). Change the water every day in hot weather and frequently in cold weather.

Your cat can occasionally drink a small amount of milk (at room temperature). You can also soak the cat food in milk. However, don’t let it drink too much to prevent diarrhea.

Wash both the food bowl and the water bowl frequently.

Regarding Litter Box

As long as the cat knows where the litter box is, it doesn’t need guidance on using it.

You must clean the solid and liquid waste (which has clumped in the cat litter) in the litter box once in the morning and once in the evening every day. Use a cat litter scoop to put the waste into a special trash can, and then smooth the cat litter in the box.

There may be a small amount of cat litter brought out at the entrance of the litter box. You can either ignore it or sweep it away.

When the cat litter is running low, you can cover it with new cat litter. However, after one or two months, it’s best to remove the old cat litter, clean the litter box and dry it before adding new litter.

Regarding Sleeping

In summer, it doesn’t matter. But in winter, the cat needs a warm place to sleep. You can use old clothes and a small electric blanket if necessary.

From the very beginning, strictly prohibit the cat from getting on the bed and scold it immediately if it tries (scolding after the fact won’t work).

When the cat first arrives at a new home, it will definitely hide. As long as the hiding place is clean, you don’t need to tidy it up specially.

Regarding Grooming

The cat will shed hair in summer, so comb its hair frequently. After combing, stroke it with a tissue or gloves. This can not only clean the cat but also strengthen your bond.

You can trim the cat’s nails every once in a while. There are special nail clippers and nail files for cats. If the nail clippers don’t work well, you can use scissors, but don’t cut too deep or it will bleed.

Don’t bathe the cat in cold weather. In hot weather, you can bathe it two or three times. Don’t bathe it too often. Use pet – specific bath lotion. Make sure to dry the cat thoroughly after bathing! The bathing process is quite complicated, so you need to figure it out on your own.

You can clean the cat’s ears every once in a while. There are special ear – cleaning solutions (refer to the instructions on the package for the method). You can also use a cotton swab to clean them.
