Our Huajuan is a male cat. He was born on March 15, 2018, and I brought him home in May 2018. At that time, he was fluffy and extremely cute, only a little bigger than a phone case.
Little did we know that his arrival brought us a “surprise” at first. He successfully made us share the cat ringworm with him.
He’s very obedient and loves to play with us. Wherever I go, he bites my leg and follows me there.
He grew very fast. In just a few months, he became a big cat and liked to sleep next to me.
By chance, I saw Mantou in my WeChat Moments. She’s a female cat and very cute. I thought she could be a companion for Huajuan, so I adopted her. I thought Huajuan would be very angry, but surprisingly, he really liked Mantou and let Mantou eat his food and play with his toys.

So, life went on peacefully until winter. Then Huajuan suddenly got sick. He started refusing to eat or drink. We thought it was due to the weather, so we cooked his favorite chicken breast and shrimp for him. He would eat a little each time, but unexpectedly, later he vomited and had bloody stools. So we took him to the hospital and did various examinations. But no problem was found, and we couldn’t figure out the reason. At that time, my heart was trembling. I didn’t know if there was some underlying disease. Later, I took a few days off to observe him at home every day and took him to get nutrition injections. Later, he actually got better on his own. After discussing with the doctor, it was possible that he had depression during that period. Yes, depression. Thinking about it, I was really too busy in the previous two months. I worked overtime every weekend and got home very late at night. Maybe he needed my company. I guess I was being a bit self – indulgent.
He and Mantou spent four happy months together as a pair of cats. Mind your own business.
At that time, Mantou loved him.
But later, I changed everything. I was the one who separated them.
On January 1, 2019, I met Yuandan, a handsome male cat. He was under a car, shivering with cold. I thought Huajuan would like to have another little friend to play with, so I brought him home. After a week of isolation, I let them meet.
I was wrong, terribly wrong. Huajuan didn’t like him! He really didn’t like him! He kept hissing at Yuandan and wouldn’t let him get close. But Mantou actually liked Yuandan. The aloof “princess” was actually willing to let him get close. Huajuan could only hide in the corner and endure everything silently.
Later, Huajuan became autistic.
Because Mantou wouldn’t let him touch her anymore.
Later, he wouldn’t let us touch him either.
Before long, Huajuan was in heat. He wanted to be with Mantou, but Mantou didn’t want to. Since he couldn’t win her heart, he decided to have her physically. He launched an attack on Mantou. We were always worried about him. Finally, Mantou gave in and gave birth to a bunch of little kittens for us.
However, even Huajuan couldn’t come up with a reason to convince himself that he was the father of those kittens. Later, we “confiscated” Huajuan’s “tools” (neutered him) to prevent such relationship – damaging situations from happening again.
However, Yuandan was very happy. He really liked to play with the little babies. Maybe he thought they were his own kittens. After all, not every cat is willing to take care of others’ kittens, especially a male cat.
If it weren’t for the fact that Yuandan was still young when Mantou was pregnant, I would have thought they were his kittens…
After this incident, Huajuan has always been alone. He doesn’t like other cats or us to get close to him. He’s no longer the clingy little boy he used to be.
