When We First Met
It was so thin that it was just skin and bones.
When I touched it, although it looked fluffy, it was actually extremely thin, just skin and bones. We weighed it, and it was only four jin. We always thought it was only three or four months old. Later, when we took it to the pet hospital, the doctor said it was already six or seven months old and suffered from severe malnutrition.
We don’t know what it had experienced before or how long it had been 流浪. When we first met it, once my boyfriend went back to the dormitory for something and saw this little guy playing outside. Maybe it went out to poop and play by the way, but it was beaten helplessly by other cats in the yard.
We couldn’t find its original owner. We walked around the neighborhood, but we didn’t see any notices looking for a cat. We asked the nearby pet stores, and no one had heard of anyone looking for a cat, nor had they seen this little guy before.
Finally, my boyfriend and I decided to adopt it.

Since I’m a big fan of Luo Xiaohei, I thought that if a black cat is called Xiaohei, then this one can be called Xiaohui!
Thinking that cats like to get into boxes, we took a cardboard box and put a few old clothes in it to make a nest for it. But when this little guy saw us walking towards it with the cardboard box, it quickly hid in a corner.
We picked it up and wanted to show it that the box could be used for sleeping. But as soon as we got a little close to the cardboard box, it struggled vigorously and seemed extremely afraid of the box.
We guessed that maybe its previous owner had put it in a cardboard box and dumped it near our place.
It makes me feel so sad just thinking about it.
After raising it for more than half a month, it now weighs five jin.
A week after adoption, we found that it started to shed hair crazily, and there were many small bumps on its body. We took it to the doctor, and the doctor said it was a skin disease caused by malnutrition.
We asked how long it seemed to have been infected. The doctor said it was at least about two weeks. The doctor’s tone was not very good. Maybe he thought that since we were raising a breed cat, we should have fed it well.
Later, when we chatted, he learned that it was a stray cat we picked up and raised. He laughed at us, saying that others picked up domestic cats, but we picked up a breed cat. His tone became much better.
When he learned that since we adopted it, we had never fed it cat food and had always made cat food by mixing chickens, ducks, and fish bought from the vegetable market, the doctor finally became much more patient.
Ah, what a lovely doctor!
Xiaohui looks ugly – cute with the hair on its neck shaved.
It’s quite intelligent. We taught it once or twice that it couldn’t enter the master bedroom or the kitchen. Now, we basically don’t need to close the doors. If we enter the room or the kitchen, it will squat at the door.
Usually, it sleeps on the dryer on the balcony, basking in the sun, or in its own carrier. Except when I just come back from work, when it will run vigorously several times between the living room and the balcony, it sleeps most of the time.
It’s not noisy at all. Except for catnip, it’s not interested in any toys. It just waves its paws a few times casually when we play with the cat teaser, and scratches the scratching post occasionally. After being excited by catnip, it can sleep all day.
After we usually feed it and it watches TV with me for a while, it will go back to its nest to sleep by itself. If I get up early in the morning, it will get up early too. If we sleep in, it can also sleep all day.
