I got Hulu completely on a whim. I didn’t like cats because I was bitten when I was a kid. But then I got addicted to cat videos after browsing a certain app too much. A colleague wanted to raise a Persian cat, so I said we could go to the pet store near the company after work. Well, she didn’t find what she liked, but I fell for this little “pig”. Wow, it was so magical. At that time, there were two cats left in the store, one was an American Shorthair tabby and the other was a British Shorthair blue cat. I told the store owner that I wanted a cat with kind – looking eyes. Yes, you heard me right.
The American Shorthair looked fierce from the back! (At that time, I didn’t like cats very much… I just thought some cats in the videos were really good – looking!) So I took out the blue cat to feel how it was in my arms. In less than five seconds, he started purring in my arms. It was such a magical feeling. I was touched. His eyes were round. Later, my friends all said his eyes were beautiful. So after I went back, I couldn’t stop thinking about him and decided to take him.
When I brought him home, since I didn’t bring a cat carrier, I carried him back in a plastic bag. I originally wanted to buy a silver – shaded British Shorthair and didn’t even consider a blue cat. So I think it’s very important to have a connection with the cat you want to raise. Whether the cat is affectionate towards you also matters. Later, I looked at other silver – shaded British Shorthairs, but none of them relaxed all over and purred at me like Hulu did. That’s why I think Hulu is special. Although it was a whim, I have my own place to live, and with Hulu, I have a different kind of companionship.
He’s already over ten months old and has been neutered. Now he’s a chubby little eunuch!

This year, there’s a little one named Yuanbao to accompany Hulu. It’s a Ragdoll cat that I always said I wouldn’t raise. Yes, whatever I said I wouldn’t raise, it came. Together, they are Hulu and Yuanbao.
Sometimes they get along peacefully, and sometimes they chase and fight. When I separated them, Hulu would go find Yuanbao. Once he found him, he’d beat him up because Yuanbao is rather annoying. I saw that the older one wasn’t too angry and the younger one didn’t have a stress reaction either. The fights weren’t too fierce, so I let them be instead of separating them. In fact, the two of them get along quite well. I’m really lucky. In a normal family, if a second cat comes home and both the original cat and the new kitten have strong reactions, it’s better to separate them properly!
