Ask the cattery to present the competition records. Generally, those cats that have participated in competitions won’t hide this information. If a cat has won a prize, the cattery can’t wait for the whole world to know.
A show – quality cat isn’t just a term thrown around casually. Some catteries deceive people by confusing the concept of “show – quality cats” with registered cats. Just because a cat has a registration certificate doesn’t mean it’s a show – quality cat. It only means it’s eligible to participate in competitions, but whether its appearance is good enough to win a prize is another matter. If there are no records, don’t believe it. A show – quality cat refers to a cat that can not only participate in competitions but also has a high probability of winning a prize.
Some catteries have show – quality stud cats and queen cats. Under the condition of transparent and real information, it’s possible to sell kittens for 20,000 yuan. But the price won’t be set when the kittens are just born. Usually, it’s at least around 3 – 6 months old, mostly after they grow to 6 months old that the grade and price of the new – born kittens are determined. We’re just afraid that some unscrupulous catteries will deceive those who don’t know much.

It’s recommended not to buy a cat impulsively. Before buying a cat, observe several large and well – known catteries. First, cultivate your ability to judge a cat’s appearance. Those good catteries will have breeding records, through which you can observe the growth of the kittens, the breeding environment, and the cats’ diet. Observe four or five catteries for about half a year, and then you can reserve a litter from a cattery. (If you want the cat’s pedigree certificate, generally, the cattery will provide it for free without additional charges. The certificate will also have the certificate numbers of the stud cat and the queen cat.)
If you’re only buying a cat for a few hundred or one or two thousand yuan, don’t consider the cat’s appearance and pedigree. Instead, pay more attention to the kitten’s physical health and the nutrition of the queen cat. It doesn’t mean that such cats are definitely bad. I’ve seen some catteries where the stud cat is of breeding – quality and the queen cat is chosen more casually. There are conscientious catteries that feed the queen cat well, keep a good cattery environment, and the kittens are clean, healthy, and have a good appearance, but they are really rare.
If you plan to spend tens of thousands of yuan to buy a cat, don’t be impulsive. It’s necessary to observe for another half a year to a year before making the purchase.
When seeing some cat owners showing off their cats, they all have a “filter” for their own cats. I really don’t want to be a wet blanket. It’s recommended to observe several better catteries and more cats that participate in competitions. First, develop your aesthetic and judgment skills.
