The Price and Breeding Situations of Non - Pedigree British Shorthair Blue Cats

The Price and Breeding Situations of Non – Pedigree British Shorthair Blue Cats

In fact, for breed cats, including but not limited to British Shorthair blue cats, there are generally two situations. The first is the cats from regular catteries with pedigree certificates. These are high – end and professional. The overall quality of the cats is good, the purchase cost of breeding cats is high, and the daily feeding, marketing and promotion, etc. lead to relatively high prices. As for the price, there are several registered catteries promoting everywhere on Zhihu, and you can consult them. But truly, you get what you pay for.

The second type is cats without pedigree certificates. This type can be further divided into several sub – categories. The first sub – category is cats from unscrupulous breeders. I won’t introduce them much as many people on Zhihu have described them. The second sub – category is home – bred cats.

Many people on Zhihu say that looking for home – bred cats is more reliable, but actually, it’s not always the case. Home – breeding also has several situations. For example, someone has a cat at home, and after it goes into heat and mates, they sell the kittens. Another example is that it’s actually also unscrupulous breeding, but it’s just carried out in an idle house at home, or they see the profit and then squeeze out space for batch breeding. The third sub – category is cats from pet stores. The cats in pet stores are collected from breeders. If the pet store owners have free time, they will also breed. They cooperate with catteries. For high – end customer groups, some large catteries will also divert some business.

The more I talk, the more there is to say. Simply put, regarding the price issue, for cats without pedigree certificates, the current market price is at most 2000 yuan. According to my communication with cat dealers, they generally buy cats for less than 500 yuan each. It’s even cheaper in summer, with a price of 200 yuan per litter. So around me, those who breed pure – blue British Shorthair blue cats either give up or, after the female cats are pregnant, look for someone to take over and change the breed. Because the price is really too low. A female cat works hard for a year and the profit is only a few thousand yuan. Both people and cats suffer.

Talking about the price of buying a cat personally, it’s basically based on the local market situation. Personal breeders generally won’t ask for an exorbitant price. I feel that 1000 yuan is already extremely high. Pet stores will ask for a higher price. One reason is the store – opening cost, and the other is the cost of obtaining the cats. Unscrupulous breeders basically deal with cat dealers and rarely sell cats one by one, which doesn’t conform to the profit – making rule.

Recently, there is a litter of pure – blue cats in my family. The female cat has only bred four litters and we have decided to sterilize her and let her live out the rest of her life in comfort. Because the market situation is too bad. My wife insists that the blue – cat market will rebound, but I don’t think so. Now cat lovers have too many choices. The appearance of the cats in my litter is quite good, but personally, I don’t dare to ask for more than 800 yuan.

Why are the prices of the same cats in the same city different? It’s about the breeding concept and breeding cost. To give a simple example, if the breeding cats eat Aifumei (a cat food brand) or Royal Canin (a cat food brand), the costs are different, but the appearance of the cats may look almost the same, yet everyone knows the difference. Cage – raising and free – range raising will lead to differences in physical constitution.

The above are my personal experiences. Please refer to them as appropriate. The prices mentioned are approximate prices for non – pedigree – certificate cats. Since I have no experience with the prices of cats with pedigree certificates, I’m not in a position to comment.
