My Experience of Buying a Blue British Shorthair: Tips and the Process

Let me talk about my purchasing channel. I’ve always loved cats. Finally, I couldn’t resist in August last year and started looking for cat sources. First, I had my eyes on the flower – and – bird market in Wuhan, but I didn’t have time to go and look around. Then I turned to Xianyu (Xianyu is actually not bad. You can buy good cats there). My plan was to buy cats bred by pet owners themselves (after all, I’ve been paying attention to the pet market for years as a hobby). So I started to screen the sellers.

First, I selected the area and mainly chose self – pick – up options. I didn’t accept express delivery or air transportation. Also, I didn’t consider professional pet sellers because you can’t be sure if their cats are “week – cats”.

For example, after choosing a cat, you need to check the seller’s profile to see if they are professional pet sellers. If it’s a self – breeding situation, they will only put the cats up for sale when they have kittens, and they may also sell other things. Then, I looked for those with videos. Of course, the videos may not show much, but they must be there.

Finally, the most important thing is to visit the cats in person. It is recommended to visit twice, with about a week in between. When I visited for the first time, there were three kittens at home, which confirmed that the cats were self – bred. Then I took a fancy to one and started to bargain. But we didn’t reach an agreement the first time. I said I would go back and think about it. During that time, we didn’t talk much. Then on the second Friday, I communicated with the seller again, saying that I still wanted to buy it and made an appointment to talk further. On the weekend, there were two kittens left, and I decided to buy one without hesitation. The main part was the price – bargaining stage.

The initial price was 1500 yuan, and the final price was 1200 yuan. I originally wanted to get it for 1000 yuan, but the seller just wouldn’t agree. Then she said 1400 yuan. I said 1100 yuan… She said 1300 yuan and wouldn’t let me bargain further. After much persuasion, we finally closed the deal at 1200 yuan, and I picked it up myself. As a result, I bought what turned out to be a “pig – like” cat. The following picture was taken when it was five months old. In terms of appearance, it can only be said to be an ordinary blue British Shorthair.
