I stroked the little Bichon Frise lying beside my bed at the moment. She’s really a treasure, and I feel so happy. Thanks to the amazing kennel owner, @Jinshui Kennel. Little Bear is about one and a half years old now and has never been sick. She has no tear stains since birth. When I give her enough company, she will happily smile every day. Suddenly, I realize that my furry baby has saved me a lot of money. I will cherish her even more in the future! Unconsciously, I’ve been raising Little Bear for one and a half years. I want to write to all the parents who want to raise a Bichon Frise or are already raising one, hoping to be helpful to you. If you haven’t raised a Bichon Frise yet but are planning to get one, you must think it through!
I don’t think Bichon Frises are suitable for people with busy jobs. Bichon Frises are really clingy. They need sufficient companionship. If you’re a busy worker who often has to work overtime, I suggest you not raise one.
Raising a Bichon Frise requires enough patience and mental endurance. Bichon Frises may not be that intelligent. You need to have enough patience to teach them how to use the toilet, how to sit, how to shake hands, and even how to do a “congratulations and prosperity” gesture. When a puppy first arrives home, it may cause headaches with behaviors like destroying things everywhere. You need to have enough mental endurance and patiently teach it. The situation will get much better when it grows a bit older.

Raising a Bichon Frise requires a certain economic ability. This is not something to argue about; it’s really a fact! Bichon Frises need to eat good – quality dog food. Good dog food can prevent tear stains and enhance their resistance. My Little Bear eats Orijen Six Fish and Chicken. She needs about 4 catties a month, costing about 300 yuan. I also add freeze – dried food, lecithin, fish oil, goat milk powder, etc. to her dog food, and occasionally some snacks like chew sticks. In total, the cost of food is about 600 yuan. The fur of Bichon Frises needs to be taken care of. They need to be bathed, groomed, and dewormed regularly. (For example, I bathe Little Bear once a week. The monthly bathing cost is 80 yuan * 4 times = 320 yuan. Grooming and hair – trimming are done once a month, costing 300 yuan. I always ask the groomer to cut the hair by hand. Finding a good groomer is as troublesome as finding a good hairdresser. Deworming is done once a month, costing 120 yuan. So, in total, it costs about 740 yuan a month.)
The home environment must be clean. If you’re a slovenly person who doesn’t like to be tidy and doesn’t want to clean up, you’d better give up raising a Bichon Frise. Bichon Frises really love cleanliness and need a clean environment.
Just like other dogs, Bichon Frises need their owners to have enough responsibility. I’ve heard many people say that raising a Bichon Frise is too troublesome. They can’t teach it to use the toilet, it barks when left alone at home, and it’s too clingy, leaving no personal space. I just want to say that if you really want to raise a dog, you should be mentally prepared. They are like little children. What child is well – behaved from birth? But as they grow older, they will become more and more sensible. Please be more patient with them. Thank you. Be sure to be a responsible owner. After all, in their world, we are the only ones. Besides our parents, no one in this world will treat us as their whole world like they do.
