Comparing Schnauzers and Bichon Frises: Pros, Cons, and Pet – raising Choices

Raising a dog really depends on the instant connection you feel with it. But if you really want to know which one is better, I’d say just choose the one you like. It’s all about looks~ Or, why make a choice like a kid when an adult would want them all~ Hahaha.

Whether it’s a Schnauzer or a Bichon Frise, let’s make a comparison.

The good aspects:

Both of these dog breeds have low hair – shedding. The Schnauzer still sheds a little, while the Bichon Frise hardly sheds at all. During the molting season, you don’t have to endure the horrible situation of dog hair flying everywhere and covering your clothes and pants. Doesn’t it feel really worry – free?

Neither of them has a strong body odor. Except for the anal glands which have smelly secretions, but as long as they don’t spray out, there’s basically no such trouble.

They are small in size. When raising them in the city, you don’t have to worry when there are sudden dog – catching campaigns in the city. This is very important. You can get dog licenses for them as they are both breeds allowed in the city. Otherwise, it would be very dangerous in a sensitive situation~ Alas~

They are lively, cute, easy to train, and smart. Training them is also a lot of fun. The Schnauzer may have a bit of a temper (but rarely during training), and a Bichon Frise can definitely be trained to be like a circus clown, Hahaha.

Now, let’s talk about the headaches:

Their appearance can vary greatly, which entirely depends on the skills of the groomer. A Bichon Frise without grooming looks like a mop, and with grooming, it looks like a marshmallow. A Schnauzer without grooming looks like a stray old dog, and with grooming, it can be either cool or cute. However, the grooming cost is not low. For a Schnauzer with a standard look, its beard gets dirty all the time. Oh, you have to wipe its mouth constantly····· For a Bichon Frise, when going out in the rain, there’s the common problem of tear stains····· You can imagine that.

The Schnauzer has a very distinct personality and its own ideas. It will force you to do what it wants to do. For example, mine forces me to play with toys with it. If I ignore it, it will put the toy on me and even push it against my face····· When it really doesn’t want to do something, it’s extremely stubborn······ When it was a puppy, it was like a gust of wind, definitely a puppy on fast – forward. Its energy was overwhelming. Many puppies of this breed bite people when they are young and need training to become more stable when they grow up. They are very jealous, and their feelings for the owner are rather subtle. They won’t take revenge, but they will deliberately annoy you. Yes, they are just that stubborn.

The Bichon Frise is a bit better than the Schnauzer in this regard. It’s not that stubborn and is even easier to train than the Schnauzer. After all, it’s not stubborn and is easy to compromise······ It’s just very good at adapting to different people and situations. It has a bit of a vengeful streak, but as long as you don’t let it develop a dominant personality, it will soon back down. It’s definitely a cute, caring, smart, soft, and a bit timid little thing~ Hahaha

The Schnauzer has a big appetite. My Miniature Schnauzer eats as much as the Bedlington Terrier at my parents’ home every day. To give you an idea, the Bedlington Terrier is a medium – sized dog at its smallest, with a male dog weighing about 18 pounds. A male Miniature Schnauzer weighing 18 pounds is normal. It’s very gluttonous and has an unrefined eating manner. There’s no doubt it can be called a “Schnauzer pig”····· Hahaha~ It has a heavy bone structure. When well – raised, it’s both strong and heavy····· A Bichon Frise eats about the amount of one meal of a Schnauzer per day. And it has a light bone structure, being light and soft~ Just like a marshmallow~ But, it can be picky about food! Well··· Because it’s smart and knows how to play on your feelings by starving itself to make you feel bad. The Schnauzer won’t do this because its big appetite doesn’t allow it.

In the end, raising a dog is like this. There’s no such thing as one being absolutely better than the other. What can be said are just general characteristics. Each dog also has its own personality. Bichon Frises are suitable for new dog owners, while Schnauzers are suitable for people who like dogs with unique personalities. They are all interesting in their own ways. I’m currently raising a Schnauzer, and it suits me just fine.
