I’m not sure if the dog food lacks nutrition. As it was hot, I trimmed Mantou’s fur, and it seemed really thin. Besides dog food, my mom also gives it quite a lot of bones and meat. (Note: The bones should be beef or pork bones. Chicken, duck, and fish bones are not suitable. Pet dogs don’t have teeth as strong as those of rural dogs. Broken chicken, duck, and fish bones are very sharp. If eaten, they can scratch the intestine.
Once, my mom gave it a stewed duck bone, thinking it was okay as it was stewed thoroughly. But as soon as Mantou ate it, it started coughing and retching, and spat out sharp fragments of the duck bone! The meat given to it should also not contain too much oil and salt. Eating too much oil and salt is bad for a dog’s fur, and it will also get more eye mucus.

The meat we give it is the cooked meat that people usually eat. We rinse it twice with boiled water before giving it to Mantou.) Anyway, it has eaten a lot of meat, but it hasn’t gained much weight. So I bought some steamed chicken breast for pets online. It’s 20 yuan for 10 small packs. I cut one pack into pieces and mix it with the dog food every day. After finishing these 10 packs, its weight increased from 10.5 jin to 11 jin. Actually, I still think it’s a bit thin. Maybe it’s because Mantou is a bit larger in size than an ordinary Bichon Frise (it’s probably not a purebred), and its legs are a bit long, so it doesn’t look chubby.
Here is a short video of Mantou eating ice – cream. I gave it the last little bit of my ice – cream to satisfy its craving. You can’t give dogs too much ice – cream! It’s easy for them to catch a cold and have diarrhea.
July 20, 2020 – Update
I took it to get vaccinated a few days ago. Since it’s an adult, it needs to be vaccinated once a year, and each time it gets two injections (I thought it was only one injection before). Here is a receipt for your reference.
The thing below the receipt is the vaccination book, which was given by the pet store when Mantou got its first injection. I think there was no extra charge. Every time you take the dog for an injection, you need to show the vaccination book to the staff. When giving the injection, the staff will tear off the label on the medicine bottle and stick it on the vaccination book as a record.
The young staff was holding my dog, and the boss was giving it the injection. It struggled a lot, and I was also there to soothe it.
Every time I take it for a walk, it seems like it has never been out in its life…
