Regarding clothes, I’ve only bought two pieces. One is the blue one in the picture above, and the other is a red one suitable for the Spring Festival. I bought it too big, and it can’t wear it for now. I hope it can fit into it in the future. Each piece cost over ten yuan.
As for toys, I’ve bought several kinds of dog toys. Mantou’s favorite toy is a small ball. When it’s free at home, it will bring the ball to me, asking me to throw it. Then it will pick it up and bring it back for me to throw again. It plays like this repeatedly. Now this ball is dirty and worn – out. I bought several similar new balls, but it doesn’t like to play with them. It won’t pick them up even if I throw them. It’s even afraid of a ball that can glow. It only likes to play with the old ball. Its second – favorite toy is a knotted rope. It’s a thick rope with knots at both ends.
Mantou likes to play tug – of – war with me, with each of us pulling one end. Sometimes when I wash these toys, it will stare at me intently, for fear that I’ll throw them away. Or sometimes when I casually put the toys in a place where it’s not easy for it to reach, it will keep pawing at it. Sometimes I thought it was wrecking the house, but when I went to check, I found it was just anxious because it couldn’t get the toy.
Let’s briefly summarize the money my family spent on the dog in this year (from June 9, 2019, to the end of March 2020):

① I spent 200 yuan on buying the dog. (At that time, I was worried that a dog given for free might be difficult to raise, so I gave my classmate 200 yuan as a token of gratitude.)
② I recharged a total of 1000 + 500 + 600 = 2100 yuan at the pet store. Now there is still 590 yuan left in the card.
③ Dog food and chew sticks cost about 600 yuan. (Shopping during promotions on Tmall Supermarket is really much more cost – effective than in physical stores. Also, my dog eats less dog food and likes other things.)
④ Others (pee – pads, toys, cage, leash, etc.) cost about 400 yuan.
The total is about 3300 + yuan.
Calculating like this, it’s actually a significant amount of money for my family. My parents contributed about 1200 yuan, and the rest came from the money I earned from my summer job and my pocket money.
I’m sorry if I’ve digressed a bit. When it comes to dogs, I can’t help but talk more. To be honest, I’ve had a slight thought of regretting raising it. It’s so lively and has a greater impact on my life than I expected. However, even so, I still love it very much.
I also want to remind friends who want to raise a dog that you must think carefully before doing so. You can’t be impulsive. A dog is not just a toy for a short time. Once you decide to raise it, you should be responsible.
In terms of the economy, I hope you can consider raising a dog when you are more financially stable. Otherwise, it’s not good for either you or the dog. I’m once again glad that I’m an only child. Raising a dog has been my long – held wish since I was a child. But if there were another child in my family, I surely wouldn’t raise this dog. I’m also grateful to my parents for their support.
Here are two recent photos of Mantou. Mantou will be one year old on April 14, 2020!
The photos were taken two months after the last visit to the pet store for grooming. During this period, my mom trimmed the hair on its face once. I think it looks better like this than after the 120 – yuan grooming last time.
This is the first time I’ve written an answer so carefully. Thank you for reading!
Regarding products like nutritional paste and hair conditioner, since I’m raising the dog on a budget, I don’t think these are necessary, so I didn’t buy them. Mantou is still full of energy every day, and I think its fur is very beautiful. But if it’s a product necessary for its health, I will definitely buy it.
