Advantage 1: Gentle and Affectionate
No matter if you hit it or show discontent with it, it still loves you. It will give you an extremely warm welcome every time you meet, whether you’ve been away for just an hour or several hours at work.
Disadvantage 1: Gentle and Affectionate
It’s truly extremely friendly to humans. (Mine occasionally “judges people by their appearance”. It would bark at the old grandpa who does the cleaning. But once, when the grandpa showed great affection for the dog, it rubbed its head against him, asking to be petted.) When it sees people, it thinks they like it and will go up to them. Even if people try to avoid it, it still believes they like it. If it really takes a liking to someone, it gets even more eager. I just sit there, and it will come asking for a pet.
Advantage 2: Intelligent
It can learn various skills if you teach them. Skills like shaking the left hand, shaking the right hand, getting up, going out, sitting, lying down… Personally, I think the most useful one is “stay”! When there’s a puddle, I can ask it to wait on a clean spot while I go throw the trash, and then we walk together.
Disadvantage 2: Intelligent
If not properly disciplined, it can be a bit sly. It secretly picks up things to eat and tears paper. Even though it knows it shouldn’t do that, once it’s caught, it quickly hides the paper under its body, pretending nothing has happened.

Advantage 3: Beautiful Fur
In the sunlight, its fur is golden and shiny. I think it looks better than a Labrador. Moreover, its fur is soft and feels very comfortable to touch. In winter, you can use it to warm your feet. But in summer, well…
Disadvantage 3: Shedding (Not grooming may lead to skin diseases…)
It’s true that it sheds twice a year, but it’s not really that extreme to say it sheds for half a year each time. There are times when it sheds more during the molting period and less during non – molting periods. However, I still need to use a robot vacuum cleaner to clean up the hair. My back really can’t take it anymore. Fellow pet owners, it’s time to get organized! In summer, its tail even gets a bit bald, but it slowly grows back in winter.
Golden retrievers are truly a very healing dog breed… They are very friendly to novice pet owners. But if you decide to raise one, I hope you can accompany it all the time. If you love it, please don’t abandon it.
