Xiaoya: The Tabby Cat Who Chose Me and Wove a Web of Love

Xiaoya: The Tabby Cat Who Chose Me and Wove a Web of Love

It wasn’t my choice; I was chosen by her~

One evening, probably in the summer about four years ago, it was drizzling. I was out for a stroll with a friend. Suddenly, a little cat barged into my life. That was Xiaoya.

Neither my friend nor I could keep her at first. Her family had a dog, and my mom was at my home. Due to some special circumstances at home at that time, and with my mom constantly scolding, I really wanted to let Xiaoya go back. But every time I heard her meowing and running towards me, then lying on my lap obediently to rest, I just couldn’t bear it. In the end, I ended up sleeping with her in the utility room. Hehe (º﹃º )

As time went by, I gradually discovered that tabby cats are really adorable. Over the four years, I’ve taken in around twenty to thirty cats successively (all of them were adopted by nice families, and only Xiaoya and two other cats are left with me). Among the cats I’ve raised, the black – and – white cats may seem cold on the outside but are warm – hearted inside. When their siblings are sick or hungry, they’ll lend a helping hand. The orange cats are truly laid – back; you could twist them into a knot and they wouldn’t wake up. The black cats are really aloof, and the white cats are rather extreme. They’re more vigilant than other cats, yet also the most clingy. Tabby cats are full of pride. They clearly like you but pretend to be disdainful. However, when you pretend to be angry, they’ll come over and rub against you. When you’re in a bad mood, they’ll stay by your side to comfort you~~

Xiaoya would come to the door to greet my dad or me when we get home. Once, my dad’s car was still at the intersection ahead, and she had already run to the door, meowing for me to open it. Then she’d act as if nothing had happened, walk outside, and just quietly watch my dad without being overly affectionate. Later, my dad told me that Xiaoya did the same when I came back. Hahaha.

Xiaoya is very smart. She learned (from us) to use the toilet on her own, hides when my mom comes home, and knows how to take care of the smaller and weaker cats in the house.

I have a friend who’s terrified of cats and dogs. Every time she came to my house, she’d tremble at the sight of the cats. The cats were probably also shy of strangers and would keep their distance. But once, when my friend saw Xiaoya was asleep, something came over her, and she touched Xiaoya. Xiaoya wasn’t startled. She opened her eyes, saw it was an acquaintance, and went back to sleep. I don’t know exactly what happened, but the result was that my friend was smitten with Xiaoya. Now, every time she comes to my house, she’ll pet, hug, and kiss Xiaoya.

There are countless other examples. Whether my friends are afraid of cats or not, they all like Xiaoya.

Tabby cats are intelligent and considerate. They may get angry and have little tantrums occasionally, but they always love us. As long as we love them, they’ll give us many surprises. At first, I started keeping cats perhaps because of inner unease, but later, I was truly attracted by this lovely creature. She’s a very important part of my life, like family. Xiaoya, I hope you’ll be well in the time to come. Let me accompany you through your life~

Sleeping with a crooked face. Hahahahahahahahaha

Suddenly freezing for a few seconds
