Xiaoguai, the Spirited Tabby: A Wild and Lovable Companion

Xiaoguai, the Spirited Tabby: A Wild and Lovable Companion

The cat belongs to a friend. Its name is Xiaoguai (but it’s actually not well – behaved at all). It was given to my friend by someone else, and I’ve more or less watched it grow up. Tabby cats have a wild nature. Playing with it can easily lead to scratches or bites. But I still keep going back to play with it, perhaps that’s the fate of a cat lover.

I think tabby cats are really wild. It runs around the house, jumping up and down, enjoying itself. When you play with it, it either bites or scratches. Sometimes, it’ll suddenly give you a bite. Scolding it doesn’t really work much. It’ll still scratch and bite as it pleases. When it runs in the house, it’s like a gust of black wind.

It’s also very curious. When it was a kitten, it wasn’t afraid at all when strangers came to the house. It would come over to take a look, and I was really touched by that at the time. But as it grew up, it became timid. When there are strangers, it immediately hides. For someone like me, who’s not a complete stranger, it hides aside, stares at me with its big eyes for a long time, then sneaks over like it’s catching a mouse, sniffs me, and gives me a bite, not too hard or too soft. After that, it runs away. Maybe that’s its special way of saying hello? Although it’s not very willing to be touched or hugged, it’s still willing to play with me.

Once, it slipped out of the house and couldn’t find its way back (our house is on the fourth floor, not very high). We found it in the stairwell a day later. As soon as it saw its family, it rushed into our arms. It was dirty, clearly having been scared. Since then, it’s never stepped out of the house again. If we force it out, it immediately runs back. It’s really become timid.

First, here are a few photos. The pixel quality was not good before, so just have a rough look. This was before it was neutered, and it was already quite chubby.

It has big, apricot – yellow eyes. Actually, it’s quite handsome.

And then there are the recent ones. It’s already been neutered, still very fat, but its face doesn’t show the fat.

I don’t know why it likes to lie like this (maybe because it’s fat?).

It also likes to lie in the flower pot. Look, there’s a cat growing in the pot!

Only when it’s sleeping can I get a chance to pet it vigorously. As soon as it wakes up, it bites again.

Here are a few pictures of its sleeping postures.

Eating its paw.

So plump.

Okay, here are the last few.

Double – image trick!

In conclusion, there’s no special reason for choosing it. We just wanted to add some liveliness and have a companion. Although it’s been naughty from a young age, we all love it very much. Even though it’s become a lazy cat now, we still hope it grows up healthily (please don’t get any fatter!).
