How I Came to Adopt My Cat: A Fateful Encounter

How I Came to Adopt My Cat: A Fateful Encounter

One night in early March this year, when I was on my way home with takeout, I heard some noises. I made a tentative attempt to tease and he actively ran out and rubbed against my legs. Due to my wariness of cats with unknown origins, fearing there might be bugs on him, I didn’t dare to touch him. But at that time, there were a lot of videos on Douyin about people picking up cats and taking them home, so I was quite eager to give it a try.

I went home to get some milk and came back to feed him. He interacted well with me and looked quite clean. He was always inseparable from another cat in our community, which had a pattern like “snow – dragging – a – gun” (a white – bodied cat with a black – tipped tail).

Look, this is it.

When we were having a great time playing, a big orange cat in the yard showed up. It chased the “snow – dragging – a – gun” cat up a tree and chased this tabby cat out of the yard. I thought I might never see him again.

It’s unbearable to watch.

The next day, I found him in the yard again. I thought maybe it was fate that brought him to me. So I tried to get closer, and then he started kneading on my legs. At that time, I didn’t know the meaning of this action. Later I learned that it seemed he really chose me.

On the afternoon of the third day, I bought a cage and deworming medicine. I put him in the cage in the community and did an external deworming. Basically, no fleas or anything like that were found on him. Then I took him home. That night, I couldn’t resist giving him a bath. During the whole process, he hardly put up any strong resistance. Until now, he has never hissed at me. He’s such a timid one. He hides while meowing whenever he sees people, yet he chose me.

He started secretly drinking toilet water.

Then, a month later, I had him sterilized. Now he truly belongs to me.

After that, he started gaining weight rapidly.

He has become a standard “chubby tiger”.

In fact, I think he might not be a pure tabby cat. I seem to remember that tabby cats usually have green eyes. I’m not really sure about this. Anyway, I’ll just raise him as a tabby cat.
