We gave her a bath a week ago. I did my homework in advance, knowing that I might get scratched, bitten, or injured, so I even bought a cat – bathing bag. During the bath, it was really chaotic. Xiaohua was terrified. But she didn’t scratch us at all. She just kept meowing and shaking like crazy. It was as if we were killing her… Later, with her fur all puffed up, we soaked an entire can of cat food in warm water for her. She ate it all up.
Rural cats like Xiaohua aren’t extremely clingy, but they’ll lie within your sight. For example, she’ll definitely greet us at the door when we come in. In the morning, she’ll be waiting outside the bedroom door early. When I’m in the living room, after she’s tired from playing by herself, she’ll come and sleep beside me, in all kinds of funny little poses. Mmm… Right now, as I’m writing this answer, she’s fallen asleep on my hand again.
She’s really naughty. When we don’t let her into the room, she’s always testing the limits at the door. The night before last, we didn’t notice and she got into the room. When we caught her, she was about to jump onto the bed. My husband caught her and gave her a good scolding. But she doesn’t hold grudges. Soon she was back outside our bedroom door, waiting alone.
Since we got Xiaohua, our life happiness has increased significantly. Besides our daily activities, my husband and I now have an extra activity of petting the cat and constantly asking each other, “Where’s Xiaohua?” Our daily routine is like this: When we come out and can’t find her, we shout “Xiaohua, Xiaohua” all over the house. After a minute, we’re really worried, while she’s on the doormat (the color of which is very similar to hers, so she’s hidden perfectly), tilting her little head, opening her big eyes, and meowing cutely, “Meow~” She must be thinking, “Are these two fools looking for me? Hiahiahia, I’m not coming out…”
